Interview Questions:

What inspired you to write this piece?

I wrote "Clueless" when I was in school, preparing for my finals or rather my lack of preparation. I usually am a slow poke in my circles, often keeping my mouth shut either because I don't care enough to be involved in the conversation or am completely unaware. I wanted this song to be an anthem, something people can relate to but mostly I needed this song to be honest. I want someone to feel it's okay to be clueless about certain things (like not knowing the 26th president of the country, or not being interested in your friend's cousin's wedding). But I think what really influenced "Clueless" is when I went to a Pop Rock concert during my exams. I had this sudden urge to be on the stage, to express my passion for music, to sing out loud and when I couldn't focus on my studies the next day, I incorporated this feeling into my laziness and boom! I got my debut single ready to go.

What does music mean to you?

That's an extremely tricky question! You know that feeling when you return home from school or work after a really long day and your body is completely sore, every inch just hurting like a volcano of pain erupting inside you but then you take a warm shower, plump down on your couch to watch a comedy sitcom and a sense of comfort just welcomes you? Well, that's what music means to me, mate.

What do you love about performing?

When people enjoy what you do, nothing can be more satisfactory. And I know that sounds massively cliché, but the truth remains that performing is a nerve-wracking experience but when you're out there, influencing the energy in the room, regardless of all the people who told you to pursue anything but music, it's a remarkable feeling. In that moment, it doesn't matter if you outperform everyone else, it only matters to put on one great show. To leave a mark. To be aware of the fact that when the audience leaves the room, they won't remember what they ate or what they wore or whether it rained after, they will only remember what they came for and to me, that's the best part about performing. That's why I love performing.

Who/what are your major artistic influences?

My music taste is chaotic, really. But if I had to pick my major influences, they'd definitely be Aretha Franklin, Freddie Mercury and ABBA. Something about these artists really motivates me to put myself out there. Be it Aretha's mind blowing runs, Freddie's impressive vocal range or ABBA's catchy tunes. I make an attempt to emulate their technique with my artist genre, although it's still work in progress, I must admit. Artists/Bands like The Brummies, Dorothy, Blanks and Billie Eilish really strike my fancy when it comes to the music production bit.
