Interview Questions:

What inspired you to write this piece?

Take My Hand is a love letter to a true relationship that has its peaks and valleys, but through it all you understand how that special person in your life is meant for you. They are one half of the whole. And even through the battle of fighting to maintain this relationship, you extend a hand to your partner, urging them to fight alongside you. That's the emotion I tapped into when writing this piece.

What does music mean to you?

Music, like any form of art, is therapy to me. Music helps develop a mood in me. It gets me out of a funk, especially uptempo pop songs. Or helps me delve deeper into my emotions the way power ballads do. And similar to writing fiction books, writing music helps me tell a story that was begging to be told.

What do you love about performing?

I perform my songs to fulfill that creative impulse in me. It's a form of expression that I mostly keep private, like a fun little story you've written and then tucked away because you convinced yourself its not ready to see the world. However, when the lyrics finally flow it releases built up emotion that's refreshing.

Who/what are your major artistic influences?

I love big, powerful voices like Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, and Sia. I'm also moved by well balanced harmony like Boys II Men, Backstreet Boys and others who give me goosebumps when singing a capella. However, the direct, clear and gentle voices like Ne-Yo, Ciara or Janet Jackson also are big influences. Meaningful Pop and R&B speaks to me, but I enjoy music of every genre. Some of my favorite people are Gerard Way, Mariah Carey, Brendon Urie, JoJo, Patrick Stump, Brandy, Prince, and so much more.
