Gracies POV (12 Years Old)

I'm sitting outside of the principals office with a nervous knot forming in my stomach, trying to concentrate on anything but my impending doom. I've been suspended! And soon...I'm gonna be dead! I heard the familiar sound of military grade boots walk in to the reception,

"What did you do Gracelyn?" Jay demanded as he stood in front of me with an icy stare,

"I uhhhhhh-" I was cut off by Will who walked towards us both wearing his uniform,

"What the hell's going on?" He asked with a frown plastered across his face. I was about to answer my two furious brothers questions when the principal opened his office door and called them in.

"You better be in that chair when we get back" Jay warned as he entered the office with Will.

20 minutes later

I did consider running but I knew that Jay would have the whole of intelligence on my back within minutes so I figured it wouldn't be worth the trouble. I was snapped out of my thoughts by the principals door opening and both my brothers walking out,

"Let's go" Will said as he made his way out of the room and I followed not far behind him. Huh, maybe running wouldn't be such a bad idea after all,

"Don't even think about it" Jay warned. How did he know what I was thinking?! "Get in the truck" he ordered, I hesitated but jumped when I felt a sharp smack to my butt, "now" Jay instructed. I rolled my eyes but did as I was told, "hey" he raised his voice "loose the attitude" he instructed as he got in the drivers seat. I resisted the urge to sass him back by putting my headphones in,

"I don't think so" Will said as he looked at me from the passenger seat "hand it over" he instructed, motioning to my phone. Hell no!

"I'm good" I replied doing my best to ignore him,

"Gracelyn, I'm not gonna ask you again" he warned, I rolled my eyes,

"You want me to pull over and get it myself?" Jay asked "cause I will" he threatened, I sighed but did as I was told and reluctantly slammed my phone into Wills hand,

"Loose the attitude before I loose it for you" he warned as he slipped my phone in to his pocket. I knew what he meant so I just stayed silent and stared out of the window as we drove to the district.

Jay parked the car and both he and Will jumped out but I stayed put not wanting to face reality, Jay opened the door for me,

"Out" he instructed but I ignored him "ok, you've got two options" he began "you either get out and walk upstairs by yourself or I can get you out and carry you upstairs like a child" he threatened "your choice" he finished. I looked at his face to see if he was being serious. He wouldn't do that, would he? Apparently I had taken too long to to decide because before I could react, Jay was leaning over me and unbuckling my seatbelt. He pulled me out of the car by my arm and threw me over his shoulder,

"Jayyyyy" i whined as I struggled to get down "put me down" I cried,

"Not gonna happen" he simply stated as he walked up the stairs and through the intelligence bullpen, passing by the confused/amused detectives, and in to the break room were he finally put me down on the sofa as Will closed the door.

"Smoking Gracie" Will began "what were you thinking?" He asked as he crossed his arms across his chest. I stayed silent and shrugged my shoulders,

"Graclyn" Jay warned as he sat down in front of me,

"I don't know" I sighed,

"Hey" he clicked his fingers "eyes up here" he instructed as he lifted my chin up so I was no longer staring at my lap, "Now answer Wills question" he ordered,

"I don't know, I wasn't thinking" I admitted,

"You know how dangerous smoking is right Gracie?" Will asked with a stern expression on his face "It could kill you" he shouted as tears began to stream down my face,

"Not only did you smoke, you skipped class to do so" Jay continued unimpressed,

"Were did you get the cigarettes?" Will asked,

"Sarah brought them" I admitted "she took them off her sister" I explained,

"Did you tell the principal that?" He asked and I shook my head,

"Sarah did" I said,

"You've been suspended for a week Gracie" Jay said "do you understand how serious that is?" He asked,

"I'm sorry" I sobbed as the tears continued to roll down my cheeks,

"Your grounded for a month, no tv, no phone, no iPad, nothing" Jay lectured, "and whilst you're not at school we'll find some jobs for you to do around here",

"Thats not fair!" I exclaimed,

"You wanna break the rules then you have to live with the consequences" Will said "You can also write a letter of apology to your principal" he finished making me whine, "And if I find out you've been smoking again I'll wash your mouth out with soap" he threatened. I wrinkled my nose in disgust at the thought. I had only had my mouth washed out once and it was not an experience I want to repeat! "Do you understand me?" He asked raising an expectant eyebrow in my direction,

"Yes sir" I replied,

"Go speak to Voight, ask him if he's got any jobs for you" Jay instructed. I did as I was told and went out of the break room and knocked on Voights door.

"Come in" his trademark husky voice said, "Hey Gracie" he greeted "what can I do for you?" He asked leaning forward on his desk,

"Jay said I had to ask you if you had any jobs for me to do" I said staring at the floor in embarrassment,

"Did he now" he smirked "you in trouble?" He asked as I nodded my head shamefully "what'd you do?" He questioned,

"I got caught smoking at school" I said ashamed of my actions,

"Smoking" he said shocked "you're twelve years old" he commented with a frown as I stared at the floor of the older man office "I've got some papers that need shredding" he said as he handed me a hefty pile of paperwork "shredders over there" he said pointing to the bullpen then sitting back down at his desk.

That was just the start. I spent the full week doing jobs for everyone around the district and it sucked!
