Tooth Fairy

Gracies POV (6 Years Old)

I was sat in the break room at the district happily munching on my apple slices whilst colouring in when when I felt a sharp tugging pain in my mouth followed by a strange metal taste on my tastebuds. I wrinkled my nose in disgust and looked down in horror to see one of my teeth in the half eaten apple slice. Tears began to pour from my eyes as I picked up the tooth and bolted out of the break room and over to my brother,

"Jay" I sobbed as I ran over to his desk in floods of tears causing him to look up in sight panic,

"What's the matter?" He asked as I jumped on to his lap and wrapped my arms around his neck "Gracie, what's the matter, talk to me" he urged as he removed my arms from his neck and moved me so he could see my tear streaked face,

"My mouth has got blood in it" I told him and he frowned as he gently grabbed my chin and opened my mouth so he could see "my tooth was in my apple" I cried and a wave of realisation flashed across his face,

"No Gracie it's fine" he assured and I looked at him confused "it's just your baby teeth falling out so that your adult teeth can come through" he explained,

"But I don't like it Jay, it tastes funny" I exclaimed and he kissed my forehead comfortingly,

"It'll stop soon" he promised "c'mon we'll go to the bathroom and you can wash your mouth out" he suggested as he lifted me off his lap and we walked to the bathrooms together.

Jay helped me to rinse my mouth out and eventually the nasty taste went away,

"It feels funny" I told Jay as my tongue poked through the gap in the front of my mouth,

"Well it will do, but you'll get used to it" he said as we walked back in to the office area.

"What do we do with this?" I asked as I help my small white tooth in the palm of my hand,

"You put it under your pillow for the tooth fairy" Hailey said and I looked at her strangely,

"There's a fairy made out of teeth" I asked horrified and she laughed,

"No Gracie" she assured "Jay, how does this child not know about the tooth fairy?" She asked turning to my brother,

"Hey, this is the first time she's lost a tooth" he defended "the subject just hasn't come up yet" he shrugged,

"What's a tooth fairy?" I asked curiously and Hailey smiled back at me,

"The tooth fairy is a fairy who flies around when your asleep" she explained "when you go to bed tonight, you need to put your tooth under your pillow and when you wake up in the morning, your tooth will be gone and instead she will have left a dollar" she finished explaining and my eyes opened in surprise and excitement,

"Is there really a tooth fairy Jay?" I asked turning to my brother who smiled back at me,

"Of course there is, she lives right next door to the easter bunny" he explained and I jumped up and down excitedly,

"I need to keep it safe then, I don't want anything to happen to it before the tooth fairy comes" I exclaimed and Jay disappeared in to the kitchen before returning with a zip lock bag,

"Here, put it in here then you can put it in your bag safe until we go home" he instructed and I did as I was told and put my tiny tooth in to the much too large bag before Jay sealed it up and put it safely in to the front of my backpack.

Jay and Hailey needed to get on with work so I skipped off to the break room and decided to draw a picture for the tooth fairy. I drew a pretty princess castle with a rainbow and the tooth fairy flying high in the sky. I just finished writing my name in the bottom corner when I heard Adam, Kim, Kevin and Voight return from whatever it was they where doing. I jumped up excitedly eager to tell everyone about my missing tooth,
