Running Away

Gracies POV (10 Years Old)

"Hey Hailey" I greeted as I walked in to the kitchen "where's Jay" I asked as I noticed the absence of my older brother,

"Oh he's just popped out to pick up some food" she told me "everything ok?" She asked and I nodded,

"Can I go to my friends place?" I asked hopefully "she lives in the building across the road" I told her and she frowned slightly,

"Jay should be back soon, maybe you should wait and ask him" she suggested and I groaned,

"Why can't I just go now?" I asked and she sighed,

"I'm sure your brother will be home soon, I'd much rather you wait for him to get back" she told me,

"He could be ages" I whined "he'll say it's fine anyway." It's not a lie. There's definitely a 30% chance he would say yes,

"I'm sure that's true but even so, just wait for him to get back" she instructed. My frown deepened as an idea popped in to my head and without thinking about anything else I darted out of the front door and down the stairs of our building "GRACIE" Hailey shouted "GRACIE HALSTEAD GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW" she shouted again but I continued to run until I was out of our building and into my friends building across the road and knocking on the front door of Kacy Newman,

"Hey Gracie" her mom greeted "come on in Kacy's in her bedroom" she told me and I smiled greatly at her as I walked off to my friends bedroom.

Jays POV

I walked back up the stairs with grocery bags in hand and just as I was about to put my key in the lock the door flew open,

"Woah" I exclaimed in surprise "how did you even know I was here?" I asked as I walked past my girlfriend and in to my apartment,

"Gracie's gone" she told me and my eyes widened,

"What do you mean gone?" I asked trying to mask my panic,

"She came in and asked me if she could go to her friends house and I told her to wait until you got home so she could ask you" she began "I guess she didn't wanna wait because when I turned around she had bolted out the front door" she told me and my blood boiled. Is this kid serious right now?

"Did she say which friend?" I asked already knowing the answer,

"She didn't give a name but she said she lived in the building across the road" she explained and I nodded already making my way back towards the front door,

"I'm going to kill her" I exclaimed as I left the apartment and made my way over to where I knew my sister would be and knocked on the front door,

"Hey Jay" Kacys mom greeted and I smiled back at her,

"Hey, is my sister here by any chance?" I asked her and she frowned lightly,

"Yeah she is" she told me "I assumed someone knew she'd come over" she told me and I shook my head,

"You would think" I said and she smiled back understandingly "Gracie Halstead get out here" I shouted to hopefully get my sisters attention.

Gracies POV

Kacy and I sat on her bed chatting when a familiar voice called my name,

"Gracie Halstead get out here" Jay demanded and my eyes widened. Hailey had told him? I can't believe she would do that! I nervously got up from the bed and said goodbye to Kacy not wanting her to follow me outside,

"Hey Jay" I greeted in a mock casual demeanour,

"Don't you 'hey Jay' me" he said angrily "get over here" he instructed and I hesitantly walked over to him and he firmly grabbed hold of my upper arm "apologise to Kacys mom" he told me and I frowned,
