Gracies POV (6 Years Old)

"Gracie" Will shouted from the kitchen as I tried and failed to fall back in to a dreamless sleep "Gracelyn" he repeated "if I walk in there one more time and you're not out of that bed I'm not gonna be happy" he warned as I sandwiched my head between the two pillows,

"I don't wanna go to school" I shouted back,

"Well tuff luck because you're going" he replied and I pulled my duvet up and over my head "Jays gonna be here to pick you up ten minutes and he isn't gonna be to happy if you're not ready" he warned,

"Then tell him not to bother" I replied. Just then the sound of keys in the lock and the front door opening caught our attention,

"Right, get out of bed and get dressed quickly and he doesn't need to know about this" he bargained but I shook my head "have it your way" he sighed before walking out if my bedroom. A few seconds later a calm yet stern looking Jay waltzed in to my bedroom,

"C'mon" he insisted firmly "get up" he demanded but I shook my head with an adamant frown "now Gracelyn" he said in a much scarier voice that almost caused me to cave. Almost being the key word there.

"M'not going" I said angrily "I hate school" I added,

"It's school Gracie. Nobody likes it" he replied "now let's go" he repeated but I shook my head once again. With a weary sigh Jay yanked the duvet from on top of me causing me to squeal,

"NOOOO" I screamed making Jay look at me with an unimpressed eyebrow raised,

"One" he began to count "two" he continued "if you let me get to three I'm gonna get you out of this bed myself" he threatened making me screech even more "three" he finished by leaning forward and picking me up off the bed making my screams grow louder. He carried me through to the kitchen where he firmly put me down on the kitchen chair "are we having breakfast today?" He asked me but I only continued to cry and attempt to climb off of my chair,

"I'll have breakfast but I'm not going to school" I stated. My brother wordlessly went to pour me a bowl of cereal with milk before placing it in front of me. I wordlessly began to eat my cereal whilst my sobs continued throughout,

"Finished?" Jay asked me once I put my spoon down in the bowl that still had a considerable amount of milk in it and I nodded "right, go and get ready for school and I'll come help you in a minute" he instructed and I felt the anger rise in my as my sobs increased once again. I told him I was only eating breakfast if I didn't have to go!

"NOOO" I screamed "I DON'T WANNA GO TO SCHOOL" I added as I brought my hand up and pushed the plastic milk filled bowl from the table causing it to bounce on the floor and the milk to splash around everywhere. I immediately made an attempt to escape but Jay was much quicker than I was. He grabbed my arm and swung me so I was facing the sofa before picking me up under my armpits and carrying me in his side holding me up by my waist "NOOOO" I screamed once again "I DON'T WANT YOU I WANT WILL" I added,

"You had Will Gracie" he said as he sat down on the sofa and pulled me face first across his lap. He wasted no time in laying sharp smacks to my pyjama clad butt causing me to jump slightly in surprise "are you gonna stop this now and get ready for school?" He asked as he picked me back up and held me between his knees and I nodded sadly "right, go and get some paper towels and clean up the mess you made on the floor" he instructed. I did so reluctantly with a teary nod and Jay observed to make sure I was doing as instructed "have you got anything to say?" He asked expectantly,

"Sorry" I said sadly and he raised his eyebrows indicating that he needed more "sorry for not getting ready for school and for throwing my cereal on to the the floor" I added and he nodded,

"Go get ready" he instructed and I did so sadly.

Once I was dressed and ready for the dreaded school I walked back out in to the kitchen to see Jay standing with his coat on ready to go,

"I wanna stay with you" I whined as I hid my face in his jacket,

"I've got to go to work" he reminded "and you need to go to school so we don't get in to trouble for not sending you" he added as he wiped away some stray tears with his thumb "c'mon" he said in a bid to get me moving "you'll be fine once you get there" he assured as he began to lead me out of my and Will's apartment.
