Trick Or Treat

Gracies POV (6 Years Old)

"When's Jay gonna be here?" I asked Will for the thousandth time,

"Soon Gracie" he sighed "why don't you just do some colouring in or something whilst you wait" he suggested and I groaned,

"That's boring" I complained "can I get changed yet?" I asked hopefully,

"Not unless you wanna be sitting around dressed as a witch for the next two hours" he sighed,

"C'mon. You got that halloween activity book from Kim you could do" he reminded,

"Will you do it with me?" I asked and he nodded,

"Yeah sure" he agreed and I ran off to my room to retrieve it.

We sat for over an hour doing the various tasks and crafts that where in the book and Jay still wasn't home,

"Where's Jay?" I whined as I rested my head on the table,

"I don't know sweetheart" he admitted "why don't you go and get changed and I'm sure once you're ready he'll be here" he suggested "he's probably just stuck in traffic or something" he suggested and I nodded.

Wills POV

I watched as my sister left to go change in to her Halloween costume and pulled my phone out to call my brother,

"Hey" I heard Jay greet on the other end of the phone,

"Where the hell are you?" I asked quietly "I have to leave for work in twenty minutes and Gracie is practically busting a gut to go trick or treating" I explained,

"Crap. I completely forgot about that" he admitted and my eyes widened "we've had a really crazy day and I'm gonna be stuck on this case for at least a couple more hours" he admitted and I sighed,

"You serious?" I asked "well she's gonna have to come to work with me" I realised "there's no way I can get a sitter at this short notice" I explained,

"Sorry man" he apologised "out Gracie on the phone and I'll explain it to her" he said and I scoffed,

"Good luck with that" I said as I walked to my sisters room to find her.

Gracies POV

I finished getting changed and was about to go and show Will when he appeared in my room and held his phone out for me to take,

"Jay wants to talk to you" he said and I frowned as I took the phone from him,

"Hello" I said confused,

"Hey kiddo" he said back,

"Where are you?" I asked slightly seriously and I heard Jay pause on the other end of the phone,

"About that" he sighed "listen Gracie, I'm super busy at work so I'm not gonna make it back in time to take you out" he explained and tears sprang to my eyes,

"But you said you'd take me trick or treating" I said as I sobbed slightly,

"I know I did sweetheart, but I'm stuck at work and there's nothing I can do about it" he admitted and I frowned,

"That's not fair" I cried and I heard Jay sigh,

"I know Gracie. C'mon I need you to be a big girl for me and go to work with Will instead" he told me,

"I don't wanna do that" I stated,

"I'm sorry Gracie" he apologised "I promise we'll do something to make up for it, anything you want ok?" He asked but I shook my head,
