Fire Alarm

Gracies POV (10 Years Old)

I'm dead. That was the only thing going through my head as the sound of the fire alarm rang through the school,

"We can't go out there" Charlie said in a panic "we'll be in so much trouble" she said from our place in the girls bathroom,

"But if we don't they'll know it was definitely us" I said obviously "I can't believe you did that" I shrieked and she shrugged,

"Neither can I" she agreed. Just then the girls bathroom door opened and an angry looking Mrs Anderson stood in the doorway,

"There you girls are" she stated "I can only assume as you never arrived at my class this afternoon that this little false alarm is down to you?" She asked and we both looked down nervously. She obviously took that as our answer because she wordlessly led us out of the toilets and out of the school building where students where being led back inside.

"Mr Samuels" she shouted out headteacher over "I believe I've found our culprits" she declared as our head master walked over to us,

"Gracie?" A voice said from behind me and I turned around to see Mathew Casey and the rest of 51 looking at me in shock and confusion "did you do this?" He asked sternly and I shrugged my shoulders,

"Kinda" I half admitted causing him to shake his head In disbelief,

"I'm very disappointed in you girls" Mr Samuels said firmly "both of you go to my office" he instructed and we both turned and began to walk there,

"Gracie" Herrmann shouted causing me to stop in my tracks "get over here" he ordered as I left Charlie behind and solemnly walked over to the firefighters,

"What the hell where you thinking?" Casey asked me seriously and I shrugged my shoulders slightly,

"I wasn't the one who actually did it" I tried to defend but he shook his head,

"That's not the point" he stated,

"I'm really surprised at you kid" Severide joined "I thought you where smarter than this" he finished making me feel ashamed of my actions,

"You best get going" Herrmann said angrily "you don't wanna keep your principal waiting" he finished and I nodded awkwardly before turning and walking back in to the school building.

Charlies mom arrived before Will, leaving me sitting alone outside of the principals office nervously. I heard the sound of footsteps coming down the hallway and looked up to meet Jays eyes causing my stomach to flip,

"I asked them to call Will" I whined at my stern looking brother who raised an eyebrow at my comment,

"I'm sure you did Gracelyn but on this occasion he's no less angry than me" he said causing me to look down at my lap nervously,

"Mr Halstead" my principal greeted from his office door "thank you for coming down" he said as he shook my brothers hand,

"No problem, just call me Jay" my brother replied and the principal nodded,

"Very well, come on in" he said and Jay turned to look at me with a firm glare,

"You better not move your butt off that chair" he warned before disappearing off in to the office leaving me to stew in my own anxiety.

I was sat on my own for around twenty minutes before Jay reappeared,

"Let's go" he instructed as I grabbed my backpack and hastily followed my brother out of the school building and over to his truck where we sat in an uncomfortable silence.
