I was scrolling through the food delivery app to see what food I can order for dinner when my door bell rang. I literally jumped, because I was so surprised. I've just moved in, who could it possibly be? Could it be my landlady Aunty May? I wondered as I walked to open the door.

My eyes widened with surprise when I saw that it was my neighbour Jia Zheng.

"Sorry," he apologized sheepishly. "I hope I didn't gave you a fright."

"Oh - not at all!" I told him. "What is it?" I asked.

"It's just.." he said, somewhat shyly. "I was wondering if you had dinner yet -"

"Not yet.. I was just browsing through the delivery app," I chuckled as I showed my phone.

"Well, I cooked extras, so I was wondering if you would like some.."

"Oh -"

"It's nothing much though," he quickly added. "Just fried rice."

"Are you sure..?"

"Yes - there's plenty."

"Okay, then I won't be shy," I grinned.

"I'll bring over over for you - or - you want to join me?"

"If you don't mind.."

"Sure."

So I went over to his place.

His apartment was just like mine, same layout. I wonder how long he has been staying here because it's as bare as mine, very minimalistic, neat and tidy as well. I followed him to the kitchen where the dining table was as well, just nice for two. We can squeeze four too if required. It's just a counter top.

I sat down because he didn't allow me to help.

Indeed he had cooked a big wok of fried rice.

"Why did you cooked so much?" I chuckled.

He chuckled. "I'm just trying to clear all the leftovers in the fridge." And that's why this fried rice was very sumptuous, there's carrots, peas, celery, chicken, bacon bits, and even salmon bits.

"Please don't mind my terrible cooking," he said as he handed me a plate. "Is it enough -"

"Yes!" I said. "I'm trying to control my carbs intake actually.. Wow, it looks and smells good!" Am I lucky or what.. the guys I know all can cook..

"Do you always cook?" I asked him as he sat down to join me.

"Sometimes. When I want to pack to bring to the hospital. I usually cook more."

"Is the hospital nearby?"

"Ya, just a metro stop away."

"Have you been staying here long? Do you owned this apartment.. or?" Then I realised I was asking a lot of questions. I quickly apologised.

He smiled. "It's okay. I rented this place. I moved here about six months ago. Previously I was staying at Zhongshan which is much further from the hospital. Then the lease was up and I saw this place so I got it."

"I see.."

The fried rice was really very delicious. I told him.

"I have more -"

"Oh, no..!"

He laughed.

He really did cooked a lot. He packed up the balance in a big container.

"What will you be doing tomorrow?" he asked me casually.

"Hmph.. no plans, maybe explore the neighbourhood.. oh ya! Can I ask something?"
