Peter doesn't know the Avengers and they don't know him. Civil war, winter soldier, infinity war, and end game didn't happen. T'Challa inherited the throne when his father died from a heart attack. Wakanda opened up on their own. Black Panther happened. Peter has been living on the streets of New York for a long time.

I was tired. So so tired. Not the normal tired of needing sleep but the tired that made you think, 'is it worth it?'. I know it's worth it because even if I can't go home and I can't be saved, I can save others. That's the only real reason I'm still going. My body was willing to give up long ago.

Seven months, 14 days, and ten hours since the last time I had a warm bed and a good meal. Seven months, 14 days, and ten hours since the last time I saw May. Seven months, 14 days, and ten hours since kicked me out.

Sure, it's hard but I get even more time to help people so it was worth it. I may be living in an alley and I may be starving most of the time but it was fine. It was fine because I had a job to do and a little hunger and cold weren't going to stop me.

I swing up to the top of one of the taller buildings around me and listen. I hear a wooshing that I had never heard before so I turn and see a smooth black space ship flying down. My senses didn't warn me or even tingle which is odd as at least everything gives me a dull tingle, maybe not stuffed animals.

I continue to look up and it looks as if they are going to land on this rooftop so I decide to make myself scarce so I jump and swing away. I feel the rush of air around me and grin, nothing could beat swinging around the city.

I hear a woman's scream and am quickly pulled out of my excitement and into the fighting mindset. I swing down and see a woman cornered in an alley with a short-barreled shotgun. The woman is barely standing because she's shaking so much and I know I need to intervene now or this is going to turn south.

I jump down into the ally between them and I hear the relieved sigh of the woman. The man holding the gun snarls but then grins. My senses scream at me but it's too late. I feel pain tearing through my side and just after, the sound of a gunshot.

I turn behind me to see the woman with her own wicked smile and shotgun. It was a trap. I look down to my side and see that half of it is blown away and blood is gushing out of it. I stumble and fall and the man and woman walk towards each other.

"We got him, baby," The man says to the woman and she nods.

"He will pay for what he did to my sister," The woman says and walks away along with the man leaving me there bleeding and dying.

I stay slumped against the wall. The world is turning foggy and blood gushes out of me. I start hearing voices in thick accents. I shift around and try to get their attention but end up falling over. I listen closely and hear the voices coming this way.

"I think the gunshot came from over here, brother," A female voice says in the same thick accent.

I look to the mouth of the ally and see two black people. One is a girl and the other a man. They look down at me and the girl steps back in shock. I open my mouth but I can't really say anything.

I see them running towards me and I try to stay awake but the edges of my vision turn black and soon my whole world turns to the side and turns black soon after.

My side hurt but it wasn't anything like how it was before. I could feel myself laying on a soft surface with cool sheets on top of me. I could feel the hot light shining down on my face and a slight breeze, like a window was open.
