It all started when you found them on your bedroom floor.

Handcuffs

They definitely weren't yours and it was only you and Matt in the apartment. So they belonged to..

"Matt!"

Your yell probably shook the apartment complex but he was at your bedroom door in seconds. You held the handcuffs up and asked him to explain.

"It must have fallen out of the laundry basket" he explained, taking them back. "The guys gave them to me as a prank"

You sighed in relief. You rolled your eyes. "I thought you had hooked up with someone in my room"

"Who said I haven't?" He joked, but he regretted it when he saw the look on your face. "Never. I swear"

Click. The cuff was locked around Matt's wrist, causing you to look at him in shock. You wanted to say something, but you couldn't. Once you heard the click again, you looked down and saw the other cuff was around your wrist.

"What are you doing?" You yelled. "Let me go!"

"Try them just once, we're not going to do anything" he laughed at your reaction.

"Okay..I've tried them. Unlock me"

"You must be fun at parties" Matt rolled his eyes and you noticed the shock form on his face.

"Where's the key, Matt?"

Matt cleared his throat. "It's..not where I thought it would be"

"Are you kidding me?"

"Calm down" he said, holding his other hand up. "Let's split and look for it"

"How can we split, genius?"

"Can you stop yelling? They're around here somewhere. We need to work to find it"

You looked down at the handcuffs keeping you and Matt together. Maybe you should listen to him and relax to find the key, which was in the apartment somewhere.

"When I'm free, I'm going to kill you" you closed your eyes. "With my bare hands"

"Okay I get it" he exhaled. "Let's start over there"

You'd been searching for an hour now. Every corner and nothing. Somehow you ended up on the kitchen floor, backs against the cabinets, feeling hopeless.

"I have to babysit in half an hour, this is your fault"

"Babysit who?"

"The kid upstairs. Not the older kid, the other one"

Matt's eyes grew wide as soon as you finished talking. "There's another key" he cried out and your frown was turned upside down.

"Where is it?"

"I don't have it"

"Then why-"

"I don't have it but I know where it is. I need to make a phone call" he said, pulling out his phone to text his friend.

"If he doesn't pick up, I'll text him"

"What if he doesn't have it?"

"Then we have to cut off our hands" your eyes nearly fell out of your head.

As Matt died of laughter from your reaction, his phone chimed with a text message. You watched his face as he read it and he frowned.

"He has the key but he isn't in town" he stared at the phone screen. "He'll be home at six so I can still make it to the party tonight"
