A girl flirts with Matt at Lilly's birthday party and he tells her he's taken

"I think I should leave now" Matt announced when he bumped into Lilly. "Y/N will be worried if I'm late"

"It's my birthday, you aren't leaving! I'm sure she can survive a night without you" Lilly rolled her eyes and dragged Matt across the room to where Nate was standing.

"Let him go, Lilly. He looks miserable" Nate laughed when he saw Matt's face. Lilly saw it too, but she didn't let Matt leave. One, she hated you and two, she hates how much Matt changed since he developed a crush on you.

"You can go"

"Thanks. I-"

"Not so fast!" Lilly grabbed his arm when he turned to walk away. "Wait here, we'll be right back"

"Where are you going?" Matt asked when Lilly pulled on Nate's arm.

"Just stay here!" She demanded, pulling Nate away into the crowd.

Matt was left alone, so he took out his phone and text you, telling you that he'd be home soon.

"Hey!" The unfamiliar voice took Matt's attention. He looked up from his phone and the brunette who was smiling way too big at someone she didn't know.

"Hey" he said to her, confused

"Don't you remember me? It's Lisa!" Matt furrowed his eyebrows at her. "We met at a party last month"

"Oh" Matt nodded, but still didn't remember meeting her at all. "How are you?"

"I'm great! I saw you standing here alone so I thought I'd come keep you company" Lisa reached out to touch Matt's arm in a teasing way.

"I have a girlfriend" he said, removing her hand and taking a step back.

"Of course" Lisa rolled her eyes in a sarcastic way.

"I'm actually texting here now, so if you don't mind.."

"Matt" Lisa quickly blocked his path when he went to walk away. "Whatever happens with us will be a secret. She won't have to know"

Matt took a deep breath and shook his head. He tried to stay as calm as possible, "I'm sure you're a good person and there's a lot of single people in the room. I have a girlfriend and I'm going home to her now"

Then he walked away and left her wide eyed like an idiot. Across the room, Lilly and Nate were watching Matt.

Nate was the first to speak. "I can't believe you asked your friend to go flirt with him"

"I can't believe he said no!" Lilly huffed in annoyance. "He told me he thought she was hot! What happened?"

"Y/N happened" Nate's answer was something Lilly didn't want to hear, but it was what she needed to hear. "Matt's in love and he's never going to cheat on Y/N or leave her. Why can't you be happy for him?"

"He's been choosing her a lot lately and we're his friends!"

"Then act like his friend!" Nate shut her up by saying that, and smiled when Matt approached them, looking bored.

"Why were you taking so long? Can I go now?" He asked, blowing his cheeks. Nate gave Lilly a look, and she sighed, knowing she couldn't force Matt to be who she wants him to be.

"Fine" she said at last. "You can go"

Lilly fixed her eyes on Matt until he was out of the room. He did look happier, but she didn't notice that because she was busy hating on his relationship with you.

"Now, can we stop plotting and have some fun?" Nate asked, making her turn around.

Lilly smiled. "You know what? I'll try to accept their questionable relationship"

"That's my best friend"

"But I won't be nice to her" she furrowed her eyebrows, making Nate laugh.

"Baby steps, Lilly. Baby steps"
