Matt thought he was going crazy.

He might've been fine after a shower, but to be sitting in a room with his Dad and his wife, made him feel like he was drunk. This wasn't something he expected to happen, but it was.

You were talking about your job. Jimmy always looked down on you and your job, but now he was more than interested. He asked you questions and gave you advice..like a dad would.

Matt assumed his dad's soon to be divorce turned him crazy. He realised, he wasn't much different from his Dad. Both couldn't hide their true feelings, no matter how much they tried and both grew to love the girl they claimed to hate.

It was late when you said goodbye to Jimmy. Before leaving, he hugged you and thanked you for tonight. He turned to Matt, who stood awkwardly to the side.

"Come here" Jimmy said, wrapping his arms around Matt. The hug was heartfelt and made Matt feel good.

To his surprise, Jimmy whispered, "I'm so proud of you"

Matt pulled away and looked at him confused, "for what?"

"For everything you've achieved since you were a little boy" Jimmy said, squeezing his shoulders. "Forgive me for taking so long..but I've always been proud of you"

Matt knew it wasn't easy for his dad to say that.

"Thanks, Dad" Matt said at last. "Take care"

Now that he was gone, you could finally laugh. Matt cracked you up as he leaned on the doorframe and sighed. "Did you cast a spell on him?"

"What can I say? I'm good at dealing with Sturniolo men"

"Oh really?"

"Really"

Matt pulled you into the apartment and kicked the door closed, pinning you against it. You laughed as he kissed your neck. "You make everyone love you. Make me love you, and my grumpy dad"

You pulled his head up and pecked his lips. "You taste like a whole bar"

"I drank a bit much" he smiled and leaned in again, only to stop him by putting your hand on his chest.

"Brush your teeth. I don't wanna throw up in your mouth"

On Sunday that same week, you had a check up. But instead of your usual doctor, you asked Matt to drive you to a new one that his Dad suggested. He was a friend of Jimmy's and very expensive, but you didn't mind spending extra money on your baby.

"I feel guilty" you said, looking from the car window to Matt. He had his eyes on the road and a smirk on his face.

"Why's that?"

"We've been going to Doctor Lane since the start, I feel bad for switching" you sighed. "And the new one is expensive-"

"I told you not to worry about money" Matt cut you off, frowning. "He's the best doctor we know and that's it. It wouldn't matter if it cost a kidney"

"I wouldn't cut out my kidney for doctor visits" you joked and he nodded to agree.

"Me either. We could sacrifice Nate"

The way he said it made you laugh. "I love us. Only we would think that joke was funny"

"I was so desperate for someone to appreciate my sense of humour, that I married the first one I found. Too late for a divorce now" he fake sobbed and wiped away his fake tears. You smacked him on the arm and told him to keep his hands on the wheel.
