You were one of the few people left in the library. You had a test coming up and planned to stay there until closing. Despite trying to focus, you couldn't help but notice a guy two tables down staring at you. You didn't care, you wanted to finish studying and then go home to call Matt.

It was eight now, the library was closing so you had to leave. You made your way to the bus, thinking about Matt, until your thoughts were interrupted by someone else's footsteps.

You weren't alone.

There was a middle aged man walking behind you. You sped up, he sped up. You slowed down, he slowed down. Your first thought was to call Matt, but then you remembered he lived on the other side of the world now.

"Y/N!"

You turned around quickly. Your eyes flickered with hope when you saw the guy from the library walking towards you. The middle aged man ended up quickly walking away.

"Are you okay?"

"I don't know who you are or what your name is, but thank you for saving my life" you said in one breath, making him laugh.

"You left this behind. Your name was on it" he said, handing you back your notebook. "That man was a creep. Why are you walking home alone at night?"

"It's okay. I do it all the time"

"You shouldn't. To be honest, I used this notebook as a way to talk to you but I'm glad I showed up before anything happened"

You weren't sure what to say after hearing that. Being flirted with by a stranger was new to you.

"I have a boyfriend" you told him and the look on his face, made you blush. "I'm sorry, I thought you were flirting with me-"

"I was"

"What?"

"I was" he repeated, laughing. "Don't worry, I respect it. I can't say I'm not disappointed, but it's okay"

"Thanks" thanks? You mentally rolled your eyes, wondering why you'd say something so stupid. "I should get going"

"Where do you live? I'll drive you"

You reached out and put your hand on his shoulder. "Don't offer a stranger a ride. I could be a murderer"

"Well" he shrugged. "What are the chances we're both murderers?"

"You expect me to get into the car with you after hearing that?" You squinted your eyes at him, smiling.

The guy took out his ID and handed it to you, trying not to laugh at how shocked you were.

"Take a picture of my ID and send it to any of your friends, or your boyfriend. If anything happens, I'll take full responsibility"

"I believe you, Eddie" you read his ID and put it in your jacket pocket. "I'm keeping this until I'm home safe"

"Shall we go?"

Matt's face lit up when he saw your face on the screen.

"Hey!" He said, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Where have you been?"

"I told you I was at the library" you knew it was wrong to tell your boyfriend only half the story when you promised to tell him everything. Things were different now, you couldn't tell him you were in danger when the guy who was checking you out came to save you and drove you home. He would spend the day worrying.

"I forgot. I'm so forgetful these days" Matt furrowed his eyebrows and it upset you to see how stressed he was.

"I know you've been working hard, but don't push your limits"
