Becky's POV

Almost half an hour has passed, and Freen still hasn't responded to my calls and messages. Last night, despite my initial reservations, she was adamant about driving me to school this morning. Now, her lack of communication has left me in a state of uncertainty. I know she's known for being a bit of a "sleepy head," but I sincerely hope she didn't insist on driving me only to keep me wondering on here where-abouts.

As time ticks on, I find myself growing more anxious about the situation. I've been considering potential alternative arrangements to ensure I make it to school on time, but Freen's unresponsiveness adds a layer of uncertainty that's hard to ignore.

"Damn it!" I groan, frustrated, in my room as my call to Freen's phone remains unanswered.

"Grace!!!" I shout to call our housemaid as I exit my room.

She instantly came rushing to me. "Yes, Miss Rebecca, how may I help you?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.

I gave my instructions as we walked down the stairs. "Grace, is the driver around? Can you please tell him to prepare the car and drive me to school?"

"Yes, Miss, Seng is around, he's in the quarters. But are you sure you want him to drive you to school?" Grace asked.

"Why, Grace? Is there a problem?"

"No, no problem at all, Miss Rebecca. I just thought Miss Freen would drive you to school as she usually does," she replied.

"Oh, supposedly, but I cannot contact her," I said as I continued to walk down.

"But Ma'am, I think she's already in the parkway of the Mansion. I saw her car earlier."

I stopped in my tracks, shocked by what I had just heard. I turned around, looked at Grace, and grabbed her arms.

"Are you sure?" I asked her, my voice filled with surprise.

Grace nodded earnestly. "Yes, Miss Rebecca, I'm quite sure. I saw Miss Freen's car parked in the parkway not too long ago. She should be ready to drive you to school as usual."

A wave of relief washed over me. "Thank you, Grace. I appreciate your help," I said, offering a grateful smile before hurrying out to meet Freen, who was apparently already prepared to take me to school. But I couldn't help but wonder why she hadn't been responding to any of my messages or calls.

As I approached the parkway, I confirmed that Grace had been correct. Freen was outside her car, engrossed in browsing her phone.

Wait she is... browsing her phone. Then why in the world wasn't she responding to my calls and messages?

I approached Freen, who appeared engrossed in her phone and unaware of my presence. Hoping to remain calm, I gently tapped her shoulder and greeted her with, "Good morning, babe." As I leaned in for a kiss, she unexpectedly moved away.

"Hi," she replied in a cold tone and then headed to open the passenger door for me.

Her cold response left me with a sense of unease, but I got into the car, hoping that our ride to school would provide an opportunity to address the tension between us. As we started driving, the silence inside the car was palpable, and I couldn't help but wonder what had caused the sudden change in her demeanor.

After a few moments, I sheepishly asked, "Is everything okay, my love? You seem different this morning."

All I received in response was a silent shrug of her shoulders.

I reached out to hold her free hand, but she pulled it away and firmly said, "I'm driving, Rebecca."

The tension in the car hung heavy, and I respected her need to focus on driving. We continued the ride in silence, but the disconnect between us was obvious.
