Book 2: So, this is Forever

24 - Nothing Less

Ten minutes from reaching their mansion, unable to bear the lingering silence, Becky couldn't resist breaking it once more.

"Are you really mad at me for earlier?" she ventured to ask her wife, seeking a connection, an understanding.

Freen glanced at her for a few seconds, her expression unreadable, before returning her gaze to the road. The silence persisted, frustrating Becky.

"Oh, come on, babe! You honestly couldn't be mad at me for this?" she exclaimed, shifting to face Freen directly, seeking a response.

"I just wanted her to back off. She was about to kiss you, right in front of me!" she continued, the frustration evident in her voice. The weight of the unspoken lingered in the car, the emotional tension palpable. Freen, however, maintained her focus on the road, offering no immediate response. The air seemed to hang heavy with unresolved emotions, leaving the impending conversation suspended in the quiet space between them.

"Urgh, fine!" Becky forcefully leaned back in her seat, a surge of frustration and exasperation coursing through her. "You know what? If you're mad at me, go back there and kiss that woman." She shook her head in disbelief at the unexpected turn of events.

Freen, unfazed, didn't bother to park the car properly; she stopped right in front of their door. Becky, ready to exit the car, froze as Freen's voice echoed in the car, "Stay, Mrs. Chankimha!" She remained glued to her seat, watching as her wife exited the driver's side and approached her.

When Freen opened the passenger door, she didn't meet Becky's eyes, immediately scooping up her wife before walking briskly towards the mansion door. The atmosphere was thick with tension, and Becky felt a sense of anticipation mixed with confusion about what awaited them inside.

As Freen carried her wife towards the mansion door, Becky couldn't help but feel a mixture of surprise and confusion. However, alongside these emotions, a sense of frustration simmered beneath the surface. Freen's silence throughout the entire drive home had left Becky in the dark, adding to the tension.

"Put me down now, Freen," she demanded, her voice strained, even as they ascended the staircase.

Freen tightened her grip, refusing to comply. "Not until we're in bed," she uttered, the words barely audible to Becky. The air hung heavy with unspoken sentiments, and the anticipation of what awaited them behind the closed doors of their home only intensified.

As they entered the master bedroom, the atmosphere seemed charged with unspoken tension. Freen, still holding Becky in her arms, walked towards the bed with deliberate steps. The room, usually a haven for their shared moments, felt like uncharted territory veiled in uncertainty.

In a surprising yet gentle move, Freen thrown her wife on the bed. Becky, now resting against the softness of the familiar sheets, couldn't help but meet Freen's eyes. The intensity in Freen's gaze was palpable, a storm of emotions flickering within.

"So, you'll just allow for me to lose millions?" Freen asked her wife while standing in front of Becky.

Becky was relieved that Freen had finally spoke her thoughts, though she didn't expect it to unfold in this alluring manner.

"What? You were seriously just thinking about the money?" Becky wrinkled her eyebrows questioning her wife.

"Well yes, what else?" Freen blankly responded.

"Then I will pay it, straight from my own money" Becky exclaimed and slapped the bed, punctuating her statement.

Freen couldn't help but release a soft chuckle, finding her wife's determination enticing.
