~David~

“I’m going to lay you down. Try to relax. Everyone, please sit. Kids, don’t try this. I’ll teach you in time.” I recline the chair and start moving my magic over Ms. Elizabeth. I start at her feet and slowly move up. I hum every once in a while. She has an ulcer starting and several compressed discs. Neither are helping her tension and stress migraine. It seems she has some narrowed blood vessels in her brain as well. It’s a genetic issue. If I tried repairing them to be normal, they could pop. “Okay, you rest. I should have what you need. Kids, with me.”

If I can’t fix the problem, maybe I can create some potions combining ingredients from both worlds to help. Caffeine here is stronger. It’s why I’m not worried about Cara having a cup or two while pregnant. On Érishu Tí, the flavor is smooth, robust, and tastes strong. There’s only 1/10th the caffeine, though.

I can use this as a teaching moment for the kids. The ulcer potions are actually pretty easy to make. She’ll need at least 3 a day for ten days to fix the ulcer, and two should fix the migraine. I’ll show the kids and write down instructions on the ulcer meds. It should keep them busy while I talk to Mom and Maddy. I can’t believe my baby sister, well half sister, is 16 already! I wonder where the husband is and why Mom is using Miller again?

“David, what is going on? What happened to you? What was that?” Mom’s smoky voice is a harsh whisper, but Ms. Elizabeth is cringing in pain. An involuntary whimper escapes her. Larry picks her up and cuddles her. It’s sweet that he can make her seem so small when she’s so tall.

“Follow me.” I gesture them to the kitchen and begin digging around in the cupboards and my bags for the ingredients. Thank heavens! They have baking espresso. It’s a vasodilator, perfect for the migraine potion.

“I have a lot to tell you. You may not believe me, but I can show you. Just, please, keep an open mind.” I begin casting magic and watch their eyes dilate and jaws drop. I smirk, “Like I said. Have a seat. I want the kids to learn these potions.” I slowly explain and show the kids what to do. I quickly make up a combination potion for Ms. Elizabeth and take it to her. She seems uncomfortable being called Queen and Your Majesty. Calling her Ms. should be okay.

“Here, drink this.” I whisper. She downs it quickly. “Good. Now you need to rest. I’ll watch the kiddos.” She yawns and looks sleepy.

“I hope everything works out for them.” She mumbles before slipping into a peaceful rest.

“Mr. Larry, please take her to bed. She’ll sleep until around six. I’ll give her a potion for her ulcer before dinner, adjust her back, then give her another migraine potion so she can sleep it off. For the next ten days, she’ll have to take a potion with every meal to heal her stomach. I’ll look into something for her stress and anxiety, too.” I help him up and watch him carry her to bed. That dude is freaking ripped!

“How are you doing, kids?” I reenter the dining room.

“Is this right?” I nod at Daniel’s work.

“I don’t know if I measured right, so I grabbed the kitchen scale!” Myra is too cute and quick.

“Well done, Miss Myra. If you want, you can make big batches of ingredients, then measure after measuring out what you think is right. I don’t want you to rely on it, but it’s a good tool to make sure you’ve got it right.”

“Kay!” They work well together. I gesture for Mom and Maddy to follow me into the living room.

“So, here’s what happened.” I dive into finding the cave when I got lost, and it started raining. By the time I got to Cara sending me back, I think they were ready to faint. Maddy seems more accepting. Mom, not so much. It took casting magic in front of her to get her to accept it… after she woke up. She kinda fainted.
