~Cara~

“What did he call her? I understand ‘agni,’ but not the other word.” I ask when they’re out of sight.

“Ocean or Sea.” The other woman answers with a smile. “Little Ocean Fire.” Her mate hugs her and smiles before kissing her head… right next to her horns. Where did those come from? I look closer and notice the others have horns tucked into their hair.

“I have another question. If it’s inappropriate, you don’t have to answer. I’ll understand.”

“Of course. How may we assist?” The second woman’s mate asks.

“Why are you hiding your horns? From what I can see, they're lovely.” They all look at me in surprise for a moment. They look between each other before grinning and letting their hair down. “Oh. I see now.” Very identifiable.

“I am Azstera, Lady Cara.” The first male crosses his arm over his chest, bowing at the waist. He and his mate look Native Hawaiian and Japanese. His waist-length hair is black and red ombre. His body looks like he hangs out at a beach gym. His horns look like spiraled onyx. They sweep back across his head with very little space between.

“I am Lana, my Lady.” Azstera’s mate dips into a graceful curtsy. She has black and light pink striped wavy hair that hangs to the back of her knees. She looks a lot like Kono Kalakaua. The difference is her height (6’3”), a slightly longer petite nose, and her eyes. Her pink and sea green eyes. So pretty! Her horns are black with rose gold veins. Her horns look like damascus Indian Bichwa daggers.

“I am K’tena, Na… Cara.” He smirks and stops himself before bowing. He is slightly shorter than Azstera at around 6’9”. I’d put Azstera at 6’10-11”. His hair is black with copper highlights. It hangs straight to the middle of his back. His eyes match his copper highlights. He looks like Zahn Tokiya-Ku McClarnon's twin brother with bigger eyes, a thinner brow, a constant smirk, and dimples. His horns look like they are from a copper hartebeest statue. They’re just shorter and angle backward. Perfect for his elaborate man-bun.

“I am Nona, Lady Cara.” His mate curtsies just as gracefully as Lana. She’s sweet. She looks like a Cherokee-Korean girl I went to school with. Beautiful. Her hair is a black-gold-white ombre and is the shortest of them all at around 5’9”. Her dual curved horns are smooth, but they have an incredible feather damascus pattern in white and gold. She notices my stare and smirks.

“I am a tri-bred taníyn. Metal, air, and fire.” My eyes grow large. “I don’t have enough metal to be a royal, but I am a noble. I am not accepted by my parent’s flights, but the Grand Duke was happy to accept me as family. He saved me from certain death when I was left for dead after I shifted. My parents were hoping I would become a royal.” She sneers in disgust. I quickly hug her, surprising them all.

“I don’t know why you all revealed your names, but I am happy. You are family now.” I hug each of them. They hiss after a few minutes and rub their wrists. My ivy pattern appears on their left wrists. The vine is scaled, matching my scales. Their eyes bug when they see it. I just shrug, “See, you’re family now.” They shake their heads in amazement.

“No one has ever been able to mark anyone except a mate or spouse. All you did was hug us and declare us family. How is this possible.” Azstera asks in confusion. I shrug.

“No clue. Maybe Tira’s library has clues.”

“It does.” Uldré scares me. His smirk has me smacking his arm playfully. He enjoys scaring me. I tend to squeak.

“Keep that up, and I’m going to pop any day now.” I tease. For a minute, he’s scared. “I’m joking! Breathe.” Nadi is trying not to laugh. She enjoys when I torture him. “Anyway, what do you mean?”
