Erik Durm

For piarniaxx:

You had known Erik Durm since the two of you were in diapers, literally. Your mothers had been best friends and you and Erik continued the tradition. You were best friends for whole lives and although everyone liked to point it out to you, the two of you seemed to refuse the idea that the two of you could be a couple, even though you had had a crush on him since elementary school, and he had a deep infatuation for you since high school.

The two of you were undeniably compatible but neither of you were willing to act on your feelings due to the risk of losing a lifelong friend. No, the two of you decided on your own and by yourselves that to remain friends was the best path for the both of you. Of course, neither you nor Erik was entirely aware of the sentiments the other carried for each of you. Your parents were growing tired of watching the two of you acting like a couple but remaining solely friends.

You knew that you could trust Erik more than anyone else in the world. So when he didn't show up to pick you up to take you out on your weekly lunch meet up, you grew confused and worried. You paced endlessly around your home, waiting for the familiar car to roll into your driveway and for your familiar blond friend to step out into the dreary German air.

Deciding to call Erik, you got sent to voicemail multiple times and your worrying increased tenfold. Calling him once more, you sighed in relief when the line connected. "Hello?" a voice that wasn't Erik's answered.

"Who is this?" you demanded. "Where's Erik Durm, this is his phone?" you asked, running a hand through your hair.

"I'm an EMT. Mr. Durm has been in a car crash and is being rushed to the hospital as fast as possible," the man replied, causing you to nearly drop the phone. Your heart dropped and you sunk to your knees. Placing a hand over your mouth to stifle a sob or cry of pain, you collected yourself as the EMT gave you the information you needed to go see Erik.

You thanked the man before hanging up and running out to your car. Opening the door, you hopped in and sped out of your driveway, heading straight towards the hospital. Running into the emergency room, you looked around frantically for any sign of the blond defender when a nurse approached you. "Are you looking for somebody, miss?"

"Yes, my friend. He was in a car crash and the EMTs directed me here," you said quickly, your voice filled with desperation.

"And what is your friend's name?"

"Erik Durm," you replied. She nodded, and went to look up the name for directions. She returned with a slip that had directions on it to Erik's location. You quickly thanked her before sprinting through the halls of the hospital. Reaching Erik's room, you gasped as the wheeled him out of it. "Erik!" you shouted, rushing to his side as the nurses tried to get you to leave. He smiled painfully up at you.

"You came."

"Of course I came, you idiot," you nearly sobbed as tears started to flow down your face.

"Ma'am, we're going to need you to remain in the room until Mr. Durm exits his surgery."

"Surgery?" you asked.

"There's some internal bleeding we need to fix, otherwise Mr. Durm is going to die as they are becoming more severe," one of the doctors stated. More tears started to flow as you turned to look down at Erik.

"You better come back, Erik. Understand?" you choked out.

"I will. But, just in case, know that I love you more than I have ever loved another woman in my life and I hope you'll forgive me for not admitting this sooner," Erik stated, causing your mouth to fall open in shock. Before you could think up a proper reply, the nurses butted you out of the way before rushing Erik to surgery. You remained in the hallway, staring after Erik.

"I love you too," you choked out before falling to your knees and sobbing your eyes out. A nurse was kind enough to help you up and lead you to a chair in Erik's designated room. You hugged yourself as you rocked back and forth, tears continuously streaming down your face. A nurse entered the room, an odd look on her face as she walked up to you.

"This is going to seem odd, but what's your blood type?" she asked. You answered her honestly. Her eyes widened and she smiled and let out a sigh of what you thought to be relief. "Are you able to donate blood?"

"Yeah, I think so," you replied. "May I ask why?"

"Mr. Durm needs some more blood in his system if he is to heal properly. We ran out of his blood type but you just happen to be his blood type. If you pass a quick scan, will you donate to him?"

"I'll donate all of it if need be," you said quickly, standing up. After she took a quick sample, she cleared you for blood donation. You sat in a chair as they prepped you for the blood donation. You laid down at they took as much blood as they could before they left. One of the nurses thanked you before handing you a cookie and a water bottle.

You sat up and allowed a nurse to walk you back to Erik's room. You sat for another hour or two before the sound of wheels alerted you to Erik's return. You smiled in relief as Erik's bed was wheeled into the room. He was up and awake and looked better than when you had last seen him. Getting up quickly, you rushed to his side. Grabbing his cheeks, you pulled him towards yourself as you connected your lips together in your first kiss.

Pulling away, you and Erik smiled at each other. "I love you too," you smiled, causing Erik to smile wider and pull you into another kiss.

"I love you so much," Erik hugged you as tight as he could. "And I wouldn't be sitting here if it wasn't for you. You kept me going," he smiled, caressing your cheek gently. You smiled at him once more before he pulled you into another passionate kiss.
