"Okay so we need... dates?" Hermione clarified Nell's words as she plopped down onto the red tattered sofa beside a crossed legged Ginny. Nell curled up into an armchair opposite them as the three girls settled into their nook in the corner of the common room.

After dinner, Nell had dragged them away to discuss what McGonagall had told her about how everyone, champions in particular, was expected to bring a partner to the ball.

"Apparently so" Nell replied, pulling a worn knitted blanket off of the back of her chair and wrapping it around herself.

"I didn't realise it was that kind of ball" Ginny remarked as Nell nodded.

"Yep, according to McGonagall. I tried suggesting that me and Harry could go together as friends but apparently that isn't allowed either since we're both champions" She complained and slumped down further into her chair, not really liking the idea of either having to wait for someone ask her or asking someone herself.

"Oh? And what did Harry say to that?" Hermione asked, raising an eyebrow curiously.

"Er nothing, why?" Nell looked to her confused.

"No reason"

"Anyways, you're obviously sneaking in with us Gin, so got anyone in mind?" Nell smirked, turning back to the redheaded girl who flopped her head against the back of the sofa in response.

"Er... maybe" she mumbled shyly to the ceiling as both girls jumped forward in excitement, they eyes flying open wide.

"Who?!" They cried out in unison as Ginny pulled her head back up to meet their eager faces, letting her hair droop down and cover her eyes.

"Well, there's just this person I thought I might ask, but they'll probably say no" she sighed, yet still feeling her cheeks flare at the thought of her.

"To you Ginny? Of course they'll say yes!" Nell beamed to the girl who looked up with a growing grin.

"What about you two?" Ginny smirked, looking between the two older girls and wiggling her brows, happily diverting the attention off of herself.

Unbeknownst to them, across the room where the boys were sat, Harry was unintentionally staring over to the three, well one in particular. His view distracting him from his conversation with Ron and Dean.

"How are we supposed to ask any of them when they all hang out in bloody herds?" Ron groaned, him and Dean awaiting some sort of response from Harry that never came. In fact looking closer at him, it didn't seem like he was listening at all as he gazed past them.

"Harry? You alright mate?" Dean asked, both him and Ron watching as Harry quickly snapped his gaze back to them, as if waking up from a daydream.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine" he muttered quickly, tearing his hand through his unruly hair, falling back into conversation with the boys as the girls continued their discussion across the room.

"Well maybe Ron will be up for going as friends and Harry could go with you, oh wait unless of course Ron asks you before then" Nell said, a knowing smirk coming over her face as she trailed off insinuatingly at the end, addressing Hermione who flushed bright red.

"What? I don't- that's ridiculous Nell, why would on Earth would Ronald ask me?" She said, quickly composing herself and acting completely oblivious.
