your hands shook slightly as you flattened your red checkered dress and pulled your fingers through the ends of your hair. tonight had become more stressful than your first date with luke, and you wondered why that was.

tonight you were meetings the boys. the band. the people that seemed to be lukes whole world. you figured they had to become a big part of yours too, but as you closed your eyes to stop your heart from pounding harder, you obviously had not known how easy that would be.

they're just human beings, you closed your eyes and you spoke to yourself, you're not meeting the president, relax.

maybe the stress came from you wanting the boys to like you, so luke liked you more. or maybe it was just that you were never really good around new people. your confident aura at school and social gatherings suited you, but sometimes it was more of a face you had to put on then an attitude that came to you.

the door opened to luke's mother, a small adorable lady that had an easy smile and gleaming eyes. you instantly saw luke in them, and the stress melted away as she introduced herself.

"you must be lukes new girl." she said sweetly, shaking your hand, "i'm afraid he won't shut up about you, my dear."

you laughed, "it is lovely to meet you mrs patterson. your son is amazingly kind to me." you blushed, and she laughed. she had an infectious giggle that immediately sparked one in you too.

after some common small talk, she told you the boys were downstairs in the basement. you headed down there after thanking her for having you over.

"hello?"

luke rose off of the couch, which also held a boy on the other side of it. wasn't there four of them? you wondered where the others must've been as all eyes turned to you.

you smiled.

"hey," luke said your name, reaching for your hand to hold, "nice dress."

you opened your mouth to thank him, but a voice popped up next to you. you hadn't known someone was there.

"i'm surprised you noticed the dress, i was distracted by the woman inside of it." your eyebrows raised toward a raven haired boy, who smirked as he walked toward you and, to your surprise, took your hand and kissed it.

you laughed in shock, but automatically, it seemed as if you had known these boys forever.

"i thought it was luke who was trying to make me fall for him," you turned your head to face luke, "seems as if you got some competition."

"you're such a suck up reg." the blonde went over to mess with the raven boys hair, "this is reggie. stay away from him." he dodged reggie's flying fist aimed for his face with ease, and sighed, "i'm alex. nice to finally understand why luke can't shut up about you."

you smiled even more as the boy- alex, said the same thing lukes mother had.

"does he ever shut up about anything?" reggie chirped, making luke take a fast step toward him, like a threat. reggie backed away, putting two fingers to his forehead in a salute.

footsteps down the stairs followed a slam of the basement door, and you tried not to show how much it startled you. this must be the final one.

"i know, i know, i'm late," the fourth boy put his hands in the air as he turned the corner of the stairs, arms full of mcdonald's togo bags, "classic bobby, yeah yea-" he spoke as if he knew the boys would taunt him about being late, but what he didn't know was a new guest would be joining the gathering that night. his eyes met yours, and he stopped in his tracks.

and he smirked, "who's the babe?"

you tried to hold in a laugh, but a few snickers came out.

"alright, alright!" luke said loudly, seeming aggravated, "everyone stop trying to steal my girl!!" the boys exploded into laughter, and you noticed bobby's face turn red, embarrassed. you smiled kindly over at him to make him feel better, but luke leaned closer to you, so you directed your attention to him, "i'm really happy you're here." he whispered.

you blushed, leaning in closer too as you spoke.

"me too." you hesitated a bit, but lowered your voice to a whisper, "you have some very flirty friends."

he nods, "i try not to encourage their behavior."

"i'll try not to as well."

next, luke formally introduced you to the guys. flirtatious reggie, charming alex, and a still slightly embarrassed bobbie.

and again, you got that feeling.

you were comfortable. like you had known them forever, and you somehow knew you would for a long time after.
