Word of the day: road

Recap:

I'd completely forgotten about Carter as soon as I'd seen Day.

I went back into the office to wake him up.

But he was gone.

Back to life, back to reality...

"He's gone." I whispered.

"Are you coming Kemi?" Asked Dani.

"He's gone." I whispered again.

"For fuck sake Kemi! Move yourself!" Dani shouted.

I walked out of the door.

"Where is he?" Asked Dani.

"He's gone."

"What do you mean?"

"He isn't in there. Where's Kris?" I asked, trying to turn the attention away from Carter.

"Becks took him. He's in the van with them now."

"Ok." I said "Lets go."

We started walking away and I took Day's hand.

"I love you." He whispered.

"I think I love you too." I said.

"Good." He said "Because I'll treat you a lot better than Kris would. He's not a nice person."

"I didn't say I loved you. I said I think I do. And this isn't a competition Day, you don't need to beat Kris." I said "And even if I did love you I haven't got time for love. I've got time for friendship first."

"Whatever you want Kemi." He replied.

We climbed into the back of the pickup truck. I grabbed the spare gun and clicked it - just in case.

"Are you expecting someone to kill us?" Asked Becks.

"Yes. Now shut up and drive." I snapped.

"Ma'am yes ma'am."

I felt a vibrate in my pocket.

I checked to see what it was.

It was a phone! A real working phone!

I looked at it and a message popped up on the screen.

'Kemi, it's me. Carter. I know where you're staying and I'll meet you there. There was something I had to so first. Oh, and I put the phone in your pocket when you were having a go at Paris.'

"Dani, Carter is gonna meet us back at the house." I shouted.

"How do you know?" He asked.

"He gave me a phone and sent me a message."

"Who gave you a phone!?" He asked.

"Carter."

"Why don't I have a phone!"

"Because he didn't give you one."

"Fine."

I stared out of the back of the truck.

Cop car.

There was a cop car.

Quickly, I laid down in the back so it couldn't see me.

"Get down!" I hissed.

Everyone did, slowly thought so it wasn't obvious.

"Becks! Get off the main road!" I hiss.

"Did you want me to go into the forest again?" He asked.

"No! Just get onto a side road so we can see if they're following us. Until we know, whatever you do, don't go home."

"Ok Kemi."

Then I lent on the gun and it fired.

There was out cover blown.
