Word of the day: distaste

Recap...

"Did you deactivate the locks?"

"No Sir."

"Did you see who did?"

"No- Yes Sir."

"Who?"

"Josh Sir."

Back to life, back to reality...

"I think she's lying..." I said, breaking the awkward silence that had formed.

"Why do you say that?" asked Smith lazily, obviously not believing me at all.

"Josh wouldn't have she Day and then set him free. Also she hesitated, touched behind her ear and didn't make eye contact." I said, matching his tone.

"How did you work that all out?" asked Smith, the awe creeping into his voice without permission.

"After being deceived as long as I have you work out certain things." I replied with a shrug.

"Well," said Paris "I'm not lying!"

"Yes you are." said Smith.

"W-W-What?" she said.

"You never were my Lucinda's friend."

"Yes I was!"

"No you weren't. You're working for the Italian scum."

"N-N-No!"

"Y-Y-Yes! Do you think I missed the distaste in your voice whenever you said 'Sir'? You're a good actress Paris, but you're not that good."

"What are you going to do about it? I press one button and the Italian's are here in seconds..."

Smith shot her through the heart.

"That."
