Saturday, 9th November, 1996

The funniest thing happened on Tuesday morning. Whilst we were eating breakfast, all of us Prefects received a note from our Heads of Houses. It was from Professor McGonagall, reminding us not to take advantage of having the ability to take away and give house points.

Draco and I looked at each other instantly, knowing what this was in reference to. I didn't think anyone would have caught on to it, because Draco and I only gave and took away points from each other a few times in quick succession. No one else seemed to realise, but we both laughed about it anyway.

It was one of those rare Saturday mornings where I was all alone. Hannah was with Seamus, Megan was with Ernie, Susan and Leanne were out with a big group in Hogsmeade. I was invited, but I chose not to go.

Wandering around the castle with no end destination in mind, the only person I wanted to be with was Draco. But he'd told me the day before that he was having to attend some sort of Quidditch meeting.

I was mindlessly walking near the Slytherin common room, perhaps subconsciously hoping to bump into Draco, it was as though I had conjured him from my thoughts. He was chatting with Blaise, and it was really nice to see Draco genuinely laughing.

"Ahh, there she is. I was hoping to bump into you today, Parsons!" Blaise called out,

"Hello, Blaise," I smiled, "Hello, Draco. Why were you hoping to see me?" I cocked my head, trying not to stare at the beautiful blonde boy too much,

"It's my birthday today-"

"Oh, happy birthday, Blaise! Did you get anything nice?" I beamed at him.

Draco then stiffened up next to Blaise, he rolled his eyes slightly, and I immediately cursed myself for sounding too cheerful suddenly.

"Thank you, Parsons. I received some Galleons, Firewhiskey, the usual. You haven't forgotten your deal, have you?" Blaise arched an eyebrow at me and smirked,

"My deal?" I looked between both Blaise and Draco,

"Yeah... back in June, you said you would arrange for us all to have birthday cakes made. When it was dipshits birthday here, you did it for him. Don't break my heart and tell me you've forgotten?" Blaise laughed, his tone a little flirtatious,

"Oh, of course, not," I replied, "I'll go sort that out now whilst I think about it. What flavour cake would you like?"

"Aren't you precious? Um, shit, I didn't actually think that far ahead. Birthday cakes aren't really a thing among us all," Blaise exhaled a breath of air out of his nose,

"Never?" I asked curiously,

"No, Parsons, never. Malfoy, what do you think?" Blaise turned to Draco, sounding uncharacteristically tense,

"I don't know," Draco shrugged, his tone slightly clipped,

"What about some caramel and apple type shit? They go together, right?" Blaise snickered, his voice had gone back to being cocky and nonchalant,

"How very autumnal of you, Blaise. That sounds really lovely. I'll walk down to the kitchens now and sort that out for you, I'll let you get back on with your day," I smiled at him, "See you later, Draco,"

"Cheers, Parsons. You're a real one," Blaise nodded to me, clapping me on the shoulder as he walked away,

"See you in a bit, Parsons," Draco said in a slightly cold tone, staring at the spot where Blaise had just touched me.
