Community of Birds

Clouds envelope the entire sky,
Consuming every morsel of blue;
The sun is the next target,
But it continues to shine through,
Illuminating the entire surface.

I hear the birds nearby,
Tweeting happily to each other;
They must be excited to share
Every scrap of food
To their younglings.

I could locate the source of the sound,
But their music is enough
To make me smile,
Enough to relieve me
From my boredom.

I would leave my house,
But my energy's too low,
Drained from the weather itself,
For it isn't agreeable enough
To roam the outdoors.

Miraculously, I see the birds
Flying as their feathers flap,
And when they reach the ground,
Their beaks stab the grass,
Foraging for food.

I bet their young got hungrier
Or it's the adults' turn to eat;
It's a marvelous sight,
Birds of different colors:
The colors of the rainbow!

It's a community
I wish to be a part of,
So I imagine myself as a bird,
Late for the feast,
But still welcomed to partake.

I feel the wind blow against my window,
Embracing it as it strokes my hair,
Massaging my entire body;
I am no longer human,
For I am now a bird.
