The very person I fought

Life would be kind enough

Just that I didn't know prior
To the day you confessed
Your interests
In starting a future together.
There hasn't been a night
That was any better
Since then, and even though
I was at my bed with the lights
Off at that time,
It felt like they shone bright.
You already know I wrote you letters,
Each in the form of poetry
That eventually
Turned into a book
That was worthy for people to look
At, but where it all comes down
To, I can't stress
It enough that you were my best viewer.
Whoever confessed first
Depends on who you ask,
You could say I did through
My collection, but I wasn't the one
Who made the decision
To pour away my feelings
Late at night because
I was too scared
Of what you'd say.
It was a surprise,
One that was a treat,
And since then, I've been
Looking back at that very night,
And as I do so, I realize
How far we've come.
Sure it wasn't perfect,
Not like I should've expected
It to be since
We had our fights,
Had our arguments,
And even considered leaving each other,
But this all ended with compliments,
Where our bonds grow tighter
With each passing day.
