Untethered

A man without loved ones is free.
He's a free man, untethered
From his worries about others' well-being,
With ample time to pursue his passions.

He feels he has nothing to live for.
He feels he needs someone to care for him.
He feels his existence is cursed.
Little does he know he's wrong.

He can be anything he sets his mind on.
Nobody will ever call him crazy.
Nobody will put him down.
He has nothing to fear.

With nothing to fog his mind,
He looks at the mountain,
The tall mountain whose
Peak is higher beyond description.

He starts to walk the trail,
Not once does he turn back
Nor does he bother to rest
No matter the circumstances.

Wind blows,
The sound of rocks crawling
From its place occurs,
But that doesn't stop this man.

He continues his quest,
Even with every reason to turn back,
Even when his life is about to leave
His body, he strains himself.

Nearing the top,
He is battered, bruised, and panting
From this long journey,
Even on the verge of fainting.

You would think he'd pass out,
But not so fast because as were led
To this conclusion, he has reached
The top, and marked his accomplishments
With a flag on the center.

This here shows that it's best
To have nobody, to be left alone,
And untethered from family and friends,
For he wouldn't had made it with them.
