"Is it anything like the poems you write?
Is it really as magical as you depict?
Does it make you forget
Every wrong with the world whenever
You lock eyes on her?"

Better,
Or at least it can be,
So much more than you can imagine;
You capture the feeling well
For someone who never dated.

"What do you mean it can be?
What do you mean so much more?
How vague must you be
To plant seeds of doubt in me?"

You'll figure it out in no time,
You shall see for yourself;
Who knows? Maybe, your first
Will teach you so much;
I know mine did.

"You two were happy together;
Whenever you locked eyes,
Held each other as your lips met,
Every cloud cleared up,
Flowers bloomed,
Birds flocked the streets."

You described us well,
Described us in the best of days;
Oh, how the feelings cannot
Be properly conveyed in poetry!
But, take notice on the worst of days,
The reasons we broke up.

"This isn't possible,
What you two had was perfect,
A relationship I would envy,
One I'd tell my family and friends,
Especially my parents."

You will tell your friends
Before telling your family;
You will have a tough time
Explaining you got the girl
To your parents, fearing disapproval.

"How can I fear disapproval?
My parents always encourage me
To tell them who I like,
Always curious whoever
Catches my attention."

Do you ever answer the question?
Have you ever been honest?
I see they ask you,
And you always say no.

"It's not important if I have a crush;
I intend to tell them when
We make it official,
When I'm so sure
We will have a life together."

Your future you shall know:
You will meet this girl,
A girl you only know online;
You will fall in love with her,
And whenever you two talk,
Your minds stabilize.

"I'm not a hopeless romantic;
That means I'm destined
To have this special someone's
Who is all I need to be happy."

A love so powerful,
You'll have so much power over her,
To build her from the ground up
She thanks you for everything,
Or to tear her down
She's left to pick up the pieces.

"I intend to use my power for good,
If only because it's the right thing,
If only because I'd want someone
To do the same for me."

You will use your power for good,
Pushing her to be her best self,
Even humbling admitting to your faults;
You will use your power for evil,
Envying her personal growth,
Using her for personal gain.

"Why are you telling me this?
Why would I do such a sick thing?
Everything I did wrong
Was only borne out of ignorance."

Because I'm you from the future,
Given a chance to tell you anything,
But you're too stubborn to listen,
Too stubborn for your own good.
