Planet Word

I'm a writer
Who grasps how each
Word is strung together.

Try breaking down a sentence,
Really break it down;
It could breed new insight,
Far more than any textbook.

Reading about it
Will give you an idea,
But actually do it yourself,
For you'll feel the knowledge.

You'll be in a different planet:
The letters are the individuals,
The words are the cities,
The sentences are the states,
The paragraphs are the countries,
And the entire text is the world.

String each word together,
Pay close attention to the syntax;
You'll notice the camaraderie,
Everything in perfect unison.

This poem is an example,
Think of it like society,
This perfect world you dream of
Where everything's in sync.

Conformity is good for words;
If there's no such thing,
What you read won't make sense.

Have you ever read
Or listened to a piece of work,
Noticed several topics
Disconnected from each other,
And you felt your brain exploding?

Try this for example:
I'm going to lead a rebellion,
The video games are best sellers,
Let the writers do their thing,
I was born with a pencil.

I mean no transition words
To indicate a change of topic
Or a change of events;
Abrupt, no warning.

That's war,
Analogous to people fighting each other
As they compete for dominance,
And the end is when the text is finished.

They say know the rules
And then break the rules;
What they mean is build upon them;
Make it way better than before,
Appealing to several forms of writing.

Think societal progress:
The blacks were slaves to whites,
The women were slaves to men,
But look at them now,
Living together as equals,
Breeding a happier society.

Words are like society,
If you don't believe me,
Re-read this entire text,
It'll give you the lens
You need to understand why.

Word is strung together.
