Meant Together

We started with nothing to spout,
Leading us to have doubt
We'll ever be friends,
What a common trend
When it comes to beginnings,
Only to realize our first
Impressions were wrong.

I shall start this verse,
Let my words disperse
As I share to you a story
That made me so happy
As I embraced it
Rather than spat out.

There was this girl,
She made me twirl
As I saw her,
For she was cute as a pearl,
And when we locked eyes,
An urge to curl in bed arose.

I was so shy,
Told myself a lie
That I believed every day,
Convincing myself
I wasn't worth her attention
Until she herself
Decided to confess
Her feelings for me.

I thought we were friends,
Like we'd never be anything more,
What a sore it put to my brain,
How much pain that idea
Gave me, what a shame,
For my excuses were lame.

But I am so grateful,
Now here we are now,
Ready for a future together
As we share a kiss
With a growing list
As to why we're meant to be
For the world to see us shine
Like the stars up in the sky.
