Diploma

This morning, I woke from slumber.
The first feeling I experienced
Was disbelief, followed by sadness,
Fulfillment, and tingly sensations
All over my body, each competing
For dominance, until merging
To become nostalgia.

It's cemented in my brain,
The very night I walked to the stage
In front of thousands of people,
Each cheering for my name
As I receive my diploma,
Signifying I graduated high school,
Ready for the next chapter in life.

Merely a single day passed
Since that fateful night,
Still the event arouses feelings
Just as powerful as an old man
Reminiscing on his youth,
But I suppose it must come
From my reflective nature,
One greater than most my age.

Whatever shall I do today?
Whatever shall I do for the aftermath?
With only the silence around me,
One needn't be so picky
On choosing their activities,
So I shall continue to reminisce
On my graduation until I'm happy.
