The next morning I woke up to feel that the bus had stopped.
We were there.

I looked around to see Jake sitting at the foot of the bed. He turned to me, flashing me a smile.
"Hey.." He said, tossing the bag to the floor, crawling over to me. "How'd you sleep?"
"Fine." I sighed, stretching out. "Are we there?"

"Yeah, we just got here a little while ago. They guys went inside to look around but I said I was gonna wait for you." He said, giving me a subtle smile. I felt my cheeks burn. Looking over, I could see the bag from the store sitting on the ground.

"W-where'd you get that?" I asked, sitting up more.
"From Josh. I.. I figured.. once you were ready to go inside.." He trailed off, shrugging. I knew what he meant.
"You figured we would find out." I said softly. His smile grew as he nodded, reaching for my hand.
"Mhm.." He said, gently intertwining our fingers. I couldn't help but smile. "But.. you don't seem very eager to find out." He giggled.
"It's not that, it's just.. I know how different everything will be.. once we know for sure." He nodded, gently rubbing his thumb over the top of my hand.

"Whenever you're ready." He said, leaning in, gently kissing me on the cheek.
"I'll get dressed." I sighed, pushing the covers off of me. His smile grew as I went over, digging through my backpack again.
"You can wear something of mine." He said, smirking at me. "I like when you wear my clothes."
"That's because everyone knows they're yours." I giggled to myself. His cheeks burned.
"Maybe."

"Fine.." I said. "But only because they might not fit much longer."
"Oh, we have plenty of time." He said, hopping off the bed and making his way over to his bunk. When he came back, he handed me one of this old sweaters.
"One of my favorites." I said softly.
"I know." He laughed. "You always try to steal this one." He said, rolling his eyes.

I smirked back at him as I pulled it over my head.
It smelled just like him.

"Are you hungry? Do you want anything?" He asked.
"I'm okay." I laughed. "Are you gonna be like this all the time now?" He flashed me a smile, nodding.
"Yes." He said, pulling me into a kiss. "So get used to it."
"Okay." I sighed, staring back up at him, getting lost in his eyes. He noticed, his cheeks burning.

"Come on." He said, reaching out for my hand, helping me up. "Let's go inside."

When we walked off the bus, there were already a line of fans waiting outside. My stomach dropped. I had enjoyed the last few days of privacy. Jake turned and waved to them as they screamed, trying to get him to come over, but I felt his grip tighten around my hand.
"We'll be out later, I promise!" He said, flashing them a smile. I heard them screaming until we made our way inside, Jake shutting the door behind us.

"That never gets old." I whispered. I heard him giggle. He leaned down, kissing the top of my head.
"But it gets easier, right?" He asked. I smirked, peeking up at him.
"I guess so."
"They're gonna be waiting out for you too, you know, once the video comes out." My stomach dropped. I had completely forgotten about that.

"I'm sure people won't care that much." I said, now starting to get nervous.
"You'd be surprised." He laughed. It didn't help.
"What do you think is gonna happen though.. cause.. they know I'm with you. But in the video-"
"Yeah." He quickly said, cutting me off. "I thought about that too. But.. I guess we'll just take it as it comes. It'll be okay."

It was okay now, but things were only going to get worse once people found out.. if there was anything to find out.

"Did you bring one of the tests?" I whispered. He nodded, keeping his eyes forward.
"I brought all of them."
"All of them?" I laughed. He shrugged, looking back down at me.
"What?" He giggled. "I don't know how this works. I've never done this." I wrapped my arm around his, pulling him closer.
"One is fine." I sighed. He leaned down, kissing the top of my head again.

As we made our way through the venue, I saw the rest of the guys over by the stage. Sam looked over, waving at us.

"This place is huge!" He yelled out. I couldn't help but smile.
"More and more people have started coming out." Jake said. "So we've had to start upgrading the venues in order to hold everyone."

"Well, that's exciting." I said. He nodded, shrugging.
"Yeah, it just means we won't be slowing down for a long time." He said softly. I held on tighter to his arm, pulling him closer. He smirked, his cheeks burning.
"But.. that's good, right?" I said. He nodded.
"It is.. it's just.. I don't know." He said quietly. "I just.. I want to be able to be there for you."

My heart started beating faster. This whole time I was worried he wouldn't want to be involved at all, and now he was wishing things would slow down with the band so he could have more time.. with me?

"Jake.. whatever happens.. I don't want you to miss out on anything. You know, because of this." He looked down at me, confused.
"What do you mean?" He asked. I sighed.
"I mean.. you're excited now, and that's great, and you don't know how much it means to me, but.. I don't want you to wake up one day and resent me because of it." He stared back at me, wide-eyed.

"I would never resent you." He said softly, gently touching my cheek. "You didn't exactly do this alone." He giggled to himself. "This is on me just as much as it's on you. And.. I want to be there with you through everything." I bit down on my lip, smiling back at him.
"Okay." I said. "But.. I'll come with you. I don't want you missing out on anything." He flashed me a smile, pulling me into a kiss.
"Maybe we can splurge on our own bus." He laughed. I felt my cheeks burn. "But we'd only be able to afford that if the venues continue to grow."

He lead us down the hallway until we found a bathroom. He stopped, handing me one of the tests.
"So.. do you want me to.. come in with you.. or?" He asked reluctantly.
"N-no.. I'll.. I'll be right out." I said. He bit down on this lip, nodding.
"Okay. I'll be here if you need me." He said, leaning back against the wall. I nodded, reaching up pulling him into a kiss. He moved his hands up, gently holding my face in his hands, kissing me back harder.

"Okay.." I sighed, moving away. He gave me a subtle smile before letting go.
"I love you." He said softly, holding his stare on me. My heart started beating faster.
"I love you." I said, kissing him again, and then making my way into the bathroom.

This was never how I imagined I'd be doing this. In my mind, I'd be in my own bathroom with my husband, in our own home, maybe a year or two after we had gotten married. Never in a million years did I ever think I would have ended up here.

When I came out of the stall, I placed the test on the counter, turning it over. Three minutes and everything could change. I started to pace, feeling my heart beat faster. I couldn't take this anymore alone. I opened the door, peeking out. Jake quickly turned to face me, staring back wide-eyed. He had been pacing too.

"Do you know?" He asked. I shook my head, waving him in.
"No.. but.. I want you in here." He nodded, quickly following me inside.
"How long?" He asked, leaning up against the wall, tightly crossing his arms.
"Two more minutes." I said, pacing again.

"Whatever happens, it's gonna be okay." He said, reaching out for me. I hesitated, but then went over to him, taking his hand. He pulled me into a tight hug. I could feel his heart beating through his chest. He was probably more nervous than I was, but was doing his best to stay calm for me. I squeezed him a little tighter.

"Alright." I sighed. "It should be ready." My heart was pounding, but I couldn't bring myself to look.
"You look." I said. He moved away, staring back down at me.
"Me?" I said. I bit down on my lip, nodding.
"Yeah." I said softly. "I just.. I can't. I need you to." He held his stare on me, but eventually nodded, going over to the counter. He gently picked it up and looked at it closely.

His silence was excruciating.

"What does it say?" I asked, he bit down on his lip, staring down at it, confused.
"W-what does one line mean?" He asked, looking back up at me, his eyes sad. My heart dropped.
"Negative." I whispered.
"Oh.." He sighed, handing it over to me. I looked down and there it was. One line.

It was negative.
