a copy in another body

a copy in another body.
that seems to be what people look for after knowing her a bit too long
they decide: she isn't what they really want-
not enough.
so they hunt for a carbon copy in another body,
one just as willing and blindly hopeful-
although she says she doesn't hope often-
that statement has become false over the years
(therapy can be thanked for that, ironically of course)
the hope begins to build in her chest when a chance appears,
a chance to escape far from where her thin roots are grounded-
a chance for her to run as fast as she can against all elements-
a chance to become the only version anyone will ever need.
there is hope.
soon after there is the absence of it as well,
the loss of captivating tale where she would at least be-
The One.
the tears stream less although the pain continuously grows.
she crumbles once again and remembers why she doesn't hope at all,
tells herself not to hope at all.
she lays on her back falling asleep, unafraid of the nightmares it might induce-
a nightmare can end once her eyes blink them away,
but that is when her day-
the never ending disaster-
begins.
