Everyone Leaves
People leave, it's what we do.
Each person is a season in your life and some last longer than others.
Wishful thinking makes us hope that seasons will be renewed and extended and end along with us.
New characters come on and others that weren't helping our plot get their exit.
"Why do you think everyone's going to leave you?"
Because that's life
Because you did
More than once
Yes you came back but you left again after promising you wouldn't,
You saw me suffering and still chose to add to that,
Not only did you leave, but you left for anyone else.
If it had been just someone else, someone you loved more than me, someone who could give you everything you wanted
But no,
It wasn't someone else,
It was anyone else.
Anyone you'd see walking down the street and turn to look at,
Anyone with a pretty smile who would give you the time of day,
Anyone that I knew and and was my friend, so they said,
While still managing to find their way into your bed.
I can't be enough for everyone, and I've stopped trying to be,
So now I don't fight when people try and leave.
