"After years of standing by and doing nothing while we tormented her," He said the word tormented like it didn't mean what it actually meant, which caused me to shiver in a bad way, "You think going to her now is going to fix anything? Change anything? What, do you feel guilty. Standing there for years and keeping your trap shut, letting it happen. Well guess what man, standing by that unwanted little girl instead of your friend changes nothing. It doesn't erase all those years of you doing nothing and you're an idiot for even talking to this worthless b-"

It all happened so fast I don't even think I know what happened, well except that Max got Chris to shut up, even if it was for just a moment. I knew Max had punched him but I had no idea where or how hard, all I knew was they were facing one another in front of me and I was stuck to my seat.

"Like I said, an idiot." Chris said before lunging at Max, missing his face but landing a solid punch to his gut the second try, making me cringe. I was still rooted to my spot, terrified and worried. Worried for Max. Max coughed before dodging Chris' next hit, the two of them switching positions. I'm sure the whole cafeteria was watching now but no one did anything, we all just...watched.

"Shut up Chris. You might say something that will make me want to hurt you." Max replied smirking, but I knew he was busting with anger inside, it was burning in his eyes.

"You can't do nothing compared to me. Remember I've had years of practice with my own personal punching bag." Chris said with a smirk of his own, casting his eyes towards me before looking at Max again. I didn't think it was possible to piss of Max anymore than he already was but I guess I was wrong. Max punched Chris so hard it sent him crashing to the ground, his cheek already changing to a nasty purple color. But that didn't stop Max. He marched towards Chris where he was trying to stand up but was punched again before he could get to far. I couldn't watch Max do this any longer, especially since I knew he was doing it because of me. I managed to stand up only to find that my knees were weak but that didn't stop me. I wouldn't let Max get hurt so I took unsteady yet determined steps towards the two brawling boys when suddenly I was being held back, Blaze telling me,

"Don't. You'll only get yourself hurt." I wanted to protest, say that I didn't care, I just couldn't let this continue but I didn't. Instead I couldn't tear my eyes away from what was happening next that caused my eyes to fill with water that splashed down my face as I fell against Blaze's arms that were keeping me where I was. Max got down on him and aimed another punch when Chris' elbow came across his face hard, a punch being thrown to Max's gut as Chris rolled them over. He got in two more punches and I knew I was crying hard now. All I wanted to do was go to them and pull Max away, he was in this because of me. Max managed to free his leg, kneeing Chris off of him, then threw punch after punch. Blaze let me go as him and Jack rushed over to them, Blaze pulling Max off of Chris, and Jack making sure Chris didn't do anything. But I knew he wouldn't, he'd lost. Chris stood up and whipped under his nose at the blood that was falling but that didn't make a difference because it was replaced seconds later. His cheek wore a bruise all kinds of black, purple and blues, a scratch on his other cheek and he was hunched over, probably from having been kneed in the gut. Max was still pushing against Blaze, wanting at Chris and that's when I finally rushed over to them in a clumsy manner.  I reached and grabbed a fistful of Max's shirt and he instantly stopped struggling, turning around to face me. Max had a cut across his nose and a scratch by his eyebrow, a bruise forming on his neck and jaw, most likely where he'd been elbowed. It hurt to see him like this. His features instantly softened as he realized it was me and reached out for my hand. I let him lace our fingers together. Max kept me hidden behind his back as he turned towards Chris and said coldly,

"Get the hell out of here Chris." Chris rolled his eyes like he found all of this some big joke and reached down to the ground where his wallet must have fallen from his pocket and shoved it back into his jeans. Everyone tensed up as Chris walked towards us only stopping when he was beside me,
