Trouble For Me

Mother gone crazy

1 month has passed after that crazy night. I finally got a stable job at a pet store, me and the boys were closer than ever. When they were out of the studio we would go everywhere together. When they were in the studio they made sure to call me to check on me and I called them back to check on them.

I was at work this morning and I had 3 hours left until I finish my shift and go to my classes. A little girl with her mother walked in.

"Hello, how can I help you?" I smiled at them

The mother gave me a stiff look, and the little girl told me "do you have any puppies here?" with a smile on her face

"Sure we have!" I looked at her mother still smiling

"Show her whatever she wants, I'll be outside if you need me" she walked out to smoke

"That's odd" I thought before looking back at the girl. The little girl grabbed my hand and I took her to the puppies she desperately wanted to see.

Thankfully Rachel walked in. Rachel is the girl that takes the next shift so I was free to look away from the door in case someone walks in.

As I was talking to the little girl I noticed that she had bruises on her arms.

"What's your name sweetheart?" I asked her

"My name is Lea, what's your name?" She asked me back

"I'm Diane" I said

She looked at me "That's a pretty name" she said and I saw that her face was full of make-up. "She's like 7 years old why do they put make-up on her?" I wondered and then out of nowhere it hit me. That woman outside abused that little girl!

I thought I was paranoid but the signs are clear, bruised arms, face full of make-up to cover more bruises. That's what my mum used to do. Suddenly I felt my body filling with anger and I saw that girl's mother walking back in and grabbing Lea gently by her hand.

"Mom can we get one? I'll take care of it I swear!" Lea told her mom

"We can't afford it love" her mother said

"I can give you a puppy, no charge at all and everything else you need to take care of it" I waited for the mom's reaction

She gave me a scary look, her eyes opened wide and her black eyes pierced through my soul "Lea do you really want that puppy?" I saw her tighten her hand and Lea was obviously in pain

"No mother" she said

"Thank you for you time" her mother said and pulled Lea out of the store

"That was fucked up!" Rachel told me in a complete shock.

Before I tried to say anything else Brian run in the store in complete shock.

"Call the police" he said to me and I run to the phone

"Why what happened?" I asked

"Me and Roger were on our way here and we saw a woman hitting her child. We stopped her and Roger is trying to hold her down. Hurry up!!" Brian yelled

"Oh no..Lea.." I said while Rachel was calling the police and I run outside and Brian run next to me

"Do you know them?" Brian said clearly confused

"They just left the store. It's a long story but I knew something was wrong by the way the mother acted" I said and I saw Roger trying to hold the woman and Lea crying.

"Lea!" I shouted and the little girl looked at me and stopped crying. She run towards me and hugged me

"Lea sweetheart what did that woman do to you?" I asked her and looked at her face. It was bruised

The police arrived and arrested the mother while Brian tried to calm Lea. She didn't want to look at her mother. She didn't even talk..

"You couldn't just mind your business?" The mother yelled at Roger and Brian

"Wait." I said and the policeman looked at me as I walked towards the woman "Shame on you! You deserve no respect! Just because you have issues doesn't mean you can abuse your own child!" I yelled..but I knew that I was just saying what I wanted to tell my mother when she did the same to me.

"Listen up you little bitch you can't tell me what to do" she yelled back

I felt my arm rising up. I wanted to punch her but before I could do it Roger stopped me.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you" he whispered in my ear, but I didn't care. That woman was obviously crazy.

Brian and Roger hold me back and before I even realised it, the child protection services was here and they took Lea.

"Can I visit her?" I asked the man who took her

"I guess you can" he smiled and I waved at Lea and she waved back

I looked at the boys holding back my tears.

"You want us to drive you to your class?" Roger suggested

"No.." I said "I just wanna go home and forget what happened.. I'll see you guys tomorrow" I said again and started walking back home. I heard them running behind me

"Are you okay?" Brian asked

"No." I answered and kept walking away from them

"We're not leaving you alone if that's what you want. You are obviously not okay" Roger said

I stopped walking

"Fine! If that's what you want." I lit a cigarette..I really needed it

Brian did not like that. "I know that was too much for you but smoking isn't gonna make you feel better love" he said

"Let her do whatever she wants" Roger stood up for me and they started arguing

"If you cared about her you would tell her the same thing" Brian said

"You think I don't care? Wow! Really Brian?" Roger yelled at him

"I'm just saying that you could at least do the right thing" Brian said completely calm

"If that makes her feel better then why should I stop her?" Roger yelled again

"ENOUGH! STOP IT! BOTH OF YOU" I yelled at them "a little girl has to live in a orphanage because her own mother is a psycho and you argue over a damn cigarette?" I broke down and I threw my cigarette away. "There! Are you happy?" I started shaking again

They both regretted starting that fight.

"We're sorry" they said and hugged me

I pushed them away "I need a moment alone" I said and walked back home alone

They were calling all day but I just didn't want to talk to them. I heard my door bell and I saw Freddie on the door through the window in my living room. I opened and I hugged him while crying

"Calm down.. I'm here darling" Freddie said "They drove you crazy?" He said again

Before I got to answer him my phone started ringing again..  

That was a crazy chapter I know but it was getting too boring.
But I wanted to bring Diane's actual problems with her mother into this chapter and that's she's not alone.
