Chapter 28: Ceilings
If only I could pay for a perfect life, then I would. Neither else, money and destiny were my enemies.
Both of us were again assigned to fix some papers for the enrollees.
"Have you seen him?"
I suddenly stopped.
I haven't heard anything from him for the past few weeks. Otherwise, he still distant about me.
"Oh, wait. Is that supposed to be surprising?" Ate Giale sounds confused. Nilingon ko siya, she covered her mouth as if she said something she shouldn't. "OMO. Just act like you're surprised na lang kapag nakita mo siya."
Ate Giale and Ethane were close to each other as they're both part of the debate organization. Naglakad ako patungo sa kabilang lamesa, not minding what she stated. However, I felt her steps following me.
"OMG, I didn't know. I'm really sorry," pahina-hinang turan niya.
Hindi ako masyadong tumutugon sa kaniya.
"Wait, are you mad?
"Lisianthus."
Saglit kong hinarap si Ate Giale. She smiled at me, and nodded, signaling me to go to Ma'am Rhoane who just called me.
She handed me a bunch of envelopes.
Thank you."
I bit my lower lip. Still shy of being approached by her. Kahit naman kasi approachable siya, and always telling me to treat her as an older sister. I just can't since she's one of the principals of this campus!
"Magsasabay po kami ni Ate Giale."
She slowly nodded while still fixing her eyes on the screen. I felt so awkward standing in front of her table, waiting for her signal for me to leave.
Napakamot ako sa ulo ko. "Ma'am may kailangan pa po ba kayo?"
Muling umangat ang paningin niya sa akin. She smiled at me sweetly, and shook her head. "Wala naman na. Thank you ulit. You can go now."
I bowed my head to her as a sign of respect and left her office.
Here I am again being irritated by the heat. Suddenly, I stiffened for the meantime when I saw a familiar figure walking towards my direction.
