"𝗔t least one of us got laid last night," Isaac whispered.

"Stop being gross," Taryn replied, slapping him.

"What? Can you blame me? I was only supposed to be grounded for a month but it's been three!"

Rueben clenched his eyes shut as he listened to his roommates bickering over their sex life above him. Even though their shadows blocked the light in his room, he could still tell it was on. Being woken up like this – by them – was not pleasant.

He groaned and pulled Rayne's body closer to him. He felt her move her head up and down softly before wrapping a hand around the top of his shorts.

It's so cute how she clings to people's clothing in her sleep.

"Get the fuck out of my room," Rueben spoke, still hearing his roommate's chatter.

"Awe, look who's awake. Did someone have fun last night?" Isaac snickered.

"Get. Out."

"We will," Taryn intervened, "We came in here to tell you that it's time to get up. We have about an hour and thirty before court is in session again."

"Got it – now leave," he spoke, not opening his eyes.

"But you two look so cozy," Isaac teased, "I hope you didn't do anything I wouldn't do!"

"Isaac I swear to god, the moment I'm coherent I'm gonna punch you. Now can you please get the hell out of my room before you wake Rayne up."

"Yeah, yeah – we're going," Taryn replied, "You better not fall back asleep."

"Whatever," he mumbled, turning, and facing up as the door closed.

He relaxed, finally opening his eyes, blinking rapidly as his ceiling came into view. He placed a hand on his face and rubbed his eyes hard before dragging it down his face in an attempt to fully wake himself up. When he felt good enough, he looked to the side and watched Rayne; she was still sleeping soundly. One of her hands was tucked under her cheek, pushing it up and expressing the full extent of her chubby cheeks. The other was still latched to his pants.

Rueben reached over and slipped his hand through the one grabbing his clothing, pulling her closed to him and kissing her forehead.

"Hey Red?" he said, shaking her body gently, "It's time to get up."

She mumbled, shaking her head, and cuddling closer to him.

He smiled, "C'mon. Big day, part two today."

She yawned and moved over, resting her head on the pillow. She made her fists into balls, pushing them to her eyes and rubbing. After a couple of seconds, she dropped them and stared at him with her hooded, golden eyes. He felt stunned.

Her eyes could hypnotize me and I'd let them.

"Morning."

"Morning," she repeated, her voice softer than normal.

"It's time to get up sleepy," he told her, brushing her messy hair out of her face.

"Okay," she whispered, sitting up and pushing the blanket off her body.

He watched silently as she tucked her legs underneath her body and let out a deep breath. She pushed her hair behind her ears before rubbing her eyes for a second time. When she was done, she moved forward and crawled to the edge of the bed. He leaned close to her as she did.

She paused and looked at him, "What?" she asked quietly.

"Can I kiss you before you go?"

She looked down and he studied her, noticing her eyes moving back and forth between the seams of the comforter. All he could do was sit uncomfortably next to her.

Why am I so fucking lame??

"On the cheek," she said finally, making eye contact again.

"Huh?"

"You can kiss me – on the cheek," she said slower. He cocked his head to the side, perplexed, but she just shrugged, "Bad morning breath."

He nodded, kissing her cheek swiftly, "I'll see you in a bit?"

Rayne nodded as well and continued to move towards the edge; she swung her legs over the side and jumped to the ground. She half – smiled at him before turning and walking towards the door, opening it and closing it – leaving as quickly and as quietly as she had woken.

He groaned and fell backwards into the pillows, resting his fingers in his hair. He stared at the white ceiling again as he thought back to the events of last night, as well as this morning. It wasn't like her – she was acting strange. Even in the past when they shared the same bed, she was more energetic, less subdued. And she had been like this for a while – right after they had showered separately last night.

Rueben closed his eyes and moved, lying face down in the pillow.

She had kissed him, but he still couldn't help but feel like he did something wrong.
