The Blind One

Chapter 36

To say that I arrived home at a convenient time would be lying. I was dropped off by a taxi driver, whom I argued about with Dalton about, that the fee for my travel just had to come out of my pay check and that was final. It was 1:00 am in the morning when we landed and I got home at two thirty on a Sunday morning. I didn't want to wake anyone up since I wanted to just sleep myself.
I dragged my bags into the house after unlocking the door. I couldn't help but breath in the familiar air of the house I'd grow up in. It was a small house compared to the houses that is seen and been invited to in Korea. But it was home. It looked so clean and homely, I noticed an addition of a few new objects that I didn't recognise like the knew pillows in the sofa and the scent of honey vanilla and cinnamon emanating from the three candles on the coffee table. I sighed and decided to go to my room. I walked in only to find sherry in my bed sleeping soundly. I smiled and shifted in next to her waking her up but I hushed her until she went back to sleep. Moving closer to her warmth I was soon drifting off to sleep.

I woke up o the sound of a squealing voice which I knew straight away to be sherry. She jumped up and down the bed causing me to roll over in the small space and fall gave flat on the floor. I groaned and picked myself up only pushing my head so that my top half was on the bed looking at her.

"What's going on! What happened?!" Mr Roundy barged into the room with only his morning gown to cover him, he was holding what looked like a boot.
I squinted at him as he looked around the room and his eyes finally landed on me. His eyes widened and he flung the shoe hitting sherry on her temple.

"Ow" she groaned as I burst out laughing. "Daad! Way to protect me" she rubbed the side of her head and soon I was being engulfed into a hug.

"Mr R" I groaned and rolled my eyes. "It's too early so soppy hugs and kisses" I laughed and he squeezed me tighter.

"I'm glad you're back and safe" he sighed as he pulled away finally going over to sherry to check if she was alright.

"Of course I'm safe" I laughed again at sherrys morning head banger and sherry threw me an annoyed look. "Now where's my mother?"

Mr Roundy smiled and gestured to the door meaning she's in her room. I quickly pulled myself up and pushed my body out of the small room before barging into ma's room.

"Good morning !" I grinned at her as she got into her wheel chair with ease, she looked so happy and was glowing.

"My baby is back" she gave a pretend squeal and spread her hands out for a hug. I walked over to her and engulfed her tiny phrame in my big one.

"I missed you" we both said at the same time before laughing at ourselves.

"Well you have to tell me all about your trip!" She gave me a wink as if to say if you know what I mean.

"Later mother" I only called her mother when I was avoiding something "right now I need a nice shower and a nice homemade meal"

She chuckled softly and nodded her head. "Since its 12:30 in the afternoon, I'll start preparing dinner"

I nodded and jumped off the bed before heading to the shower. I quickly freshened up and got dressed. Sherry was in the room watching my every move and asking me so many questions I thought I could just bury myself 6 foot under.
At one point she asked about the new dresses I was putting away and I froze realising that Dalton paid for everything and I wasn't thankful as I should have been to him.

I ignored sherry's protesting nagging about how he was and proceeded to go downstairs.

Mr R and mum seemed comfortable around each others company. She was smiling at as he stirred the pot and she chopped the onions and peppers and everything else needed.
I bathed in the little love session making my presence known as I went towards the stove.
