Chapter 17: Project Buddies.

"Okay. So, He complimented you, what's the big deal?" Danaya said, looking at Alexandra, sitting opposite her in the dining hall, playing with her food, their lunch break had only started five minutes ago and the both of them were waiting for Julia and Blake, whom hadn't arrived yet.

"Hey, you two". Julia said, as she arrived, taking a seat next to Alexandra, on the right side.

"It is a big deal, when that particular person has been insulting the crap out of you for almost four years". Alexandra replied, flatly looking at Danaya, her face bare of any emotion.

"Are we still talking about, what happened at the party?" Julia questioned, exasperatedly already having heard so much about it from the 'enemy' side. "And it's not like, your mouth was spewing out rainbows and unicorns at him during those 'almost four years'". She interpreted, at Alexandra's prior statement, earning herself an eye roll from her dearest friend.

"Hola". Blake greeted, as he arrived, placing his tray on the table and taking a seat across from Julia. "What are we talking about?".

"The dreadful compliment". Julia mumbled, then went back to eating her sandwich.

"Interesting, I actually don't know what happened. So, let's start from the beginning". He said, turning to look at Alexandra excitedly. All he got in response was a blank stare. "Or not". He added, turning back and stuffing a french fry into his mouth.

"What if, He secretly likes you?". Danaya voiced her thoughts out loud, after a moment of silence, making Alexandra's face twist in disgust.

"He does not". Alexandra contradicted quickly, shuddering, as if that was the most disgusting sentence she had ever heard in her little life of seventeen years.

"Well, there is a possibility". Julia contributed her opinion, knowing it's going to irritate her more.

"Can we not talk about that?". She snapped, beyond irritated now. She has been thinking about it since the party, three days ago, it was the first day of school after the party, it wasn't about what he said, more than how he said it, his eyes held an emotion unknown to her, yet it had managed to stirred something deep inside of her and that had made her feel beyond uncomfortable when in his presence, She made sure to stay away from the devil and keep her mind, eyes and ears alerted for his next move, She knew for sure, he was planning something in retaliation to what happened between them in the dining hall that day. Or was he? She really hoped that he was. So, the bizarre thoughts circling her friends' mind would come to a stop.

As she was lost in her thoughts, She didn't notice the dining hall going silent, as soon as she took notice of this little fact, She willed herself not to turn around and look at the entrance, She knew who it was, but it was really hard, not to turn around and try to murder him with her deadly looks. As per the ritual.

Everything was normal about this scenario, except her heartbeat. Sure, her heart always picked up a pace whenever she saw him, because of the anger and detest she felt towards him, but today it was not because of anger or detest that her heart was galloping unusually fast, it was something else that she couldn't decipher and the familiar stirring that she had felt that day was back too.

After a while, She heard the chair at the table behind her screech against the tiled floor of the still silent dining hall and cursed his existence under her breath. Everyone knew, how much Alexandra Wilfred hated attention, being born in a wealthy family, that had a big name in the business world, She already have had enough of it and the stunt that the diablo just pulled, right now, converted the attention of the whole dining hall, towards them, as he was sitting right behind her, She could almost feel the warmth radiating off of him and the familiar yet unwanted stirring was back at the pit of her stomach, making her squirm.
