liquid of love

Foxfire and Kat entered Slughorns class and immediately noticed the people around them. Foxfire scanned the room quickly, to see Hermione, Theo, Pansy, Draco, and a few other of her classmates that she had known of. The professor had instructed them to grab a book from the cabinet on the right, so the two girls did, and walked back to the cluster of students before them. Shortly after Slughorn began introducing himself, Harry and Ron walked in, out of breath and looking scrambled.

"Harry, my boy, I was beginning to worry!" Slughorn exclaimed, seeming thrilled that Harry was here. "Get yourself some books." He continued on, before returning back to the class. Foxfire watched as the two boys walked over to the cabinet, and rustled around. She soon came to realize it was because there had been two books left in there, one of which was new, while the other was very old. Harry got stuck with the old one, of course. Foxfire returned her focus to Hermione, as she explained the love potion, Amortentia, before her, and how the smell represents something you desire or are attracted to.

"For example, I smell fresh mown grass and new parchment and spearmint toothpaste." She quickly snapped out of her trans. Kat rose an eyebrow, curiously, as it was obvious that Hermione had been referring to someone in particular. Hermione quickly shuffled away, standing back next to Foxfire.

"Toothpaste, huh?" Foxfire smirked. "Doesn't a familiar red haired boy use spearmint toothpaste?" She continued to pry. Hermione smiled slightly, in an uncomfortable manner.

"Now, it causes a powerful infatuation or even obsession, and for that reason it is probably the most dangerous potion in this room." Slughorn continued on as a few of the girls inched closer to the brewing liquid of love.

"What do you smell?" Foxfire whispered to Kat, as Hermione looked over, listening in as well. Kat peered in slightly to get a better whiff of the smells before her, and before she realized it, she was beginning to describe her own desires.

"I smell rain on a cold dark day, cherry cough drops and lavender," she stopped herself as Hermione turned her head slightly, noticing that Foxfire always smelled of lavender. "What about you, Fox?" She quickly asked, hoping her friend wouldn't catch on as Hermione seemed to have.

"I- I don't smell anything that I know of." Foxfire questioned herself, confused. "I don't understand, there are so many things I love, I just can't seem to find a smell that I recognize. The smell I'm smelling is similar to a cologne of some sort?" She looked to Kat, who also had a confused expression on her face.

"What? Like Sauvage Dior type shit?" Kat asked with a laugh. Foxfire looked over at her, realizing that exactly the smell she was referring to was indeed the smell she may have been smelling. But she didn't really know of anyone who wore cologne all that much, so this confused her even more. Before Foxfire could answer, a voice interrupted.

"Sir? You haven't told us what's in that one." A student spoke up to Professor Slughorn as everyone looked over at the small vile near him.

"Yes, ladies and gentlemen. What you see before you is a curious little potion known as Felix Felicis. Most commonly known as-"

"Liquid luck!" Hermione spoke up, interrupting Professor Slughorn.

"Yes, Miss Granger. Liquid luck." He applauded her knowledge. "One sip and you will find that all of your endeavors succeed. At least until the effects wear off." He chuckled to himself. Foxfire noticed as Draco looked up and over at the vile of the potion, as he was clearly intrigued. But this made Foxfire curious as to why he was so intrigued, as the boy hadn't looked up all class. "Now, for today, one tiny vial of liquid luck to the student who, in this remaining hour manages to brew an acceptable Draught of Living Death. The recipe is found on page 10 of your books." He exclaimed, excitedly. "I should point out that only once did a student manage to brew a potion of sufficient quality to claim this prize." He said cheerfully, as the students began to find their places of work.

Foxfire stood next to Kat at the table with Harry, Ron and Hermione. Students began to grab their ingredients and chop things up. Foxfire found herself trying to find the last ingredient she needed, as it rolled off the table and across the room. She looked over, realizing that the table it had made its way over to, was none other than Draco, Theo, and Pansy's, along with a few other Slytherins. Great, she thought to herself, sarcastically. She slowly walked over as the three peered up at her, Pansy giving the dirtiest of looks.

"What do you want?" She snapped at Fox, clearly intimidated.

"I lost an ingredient." Fox said quietly, not wanting confrontation.

"That's not the only thing you lost, now is it, Cate?" Pansy smirked, finding herself to be witty with her rude remarks. But all this did was make Foxfire angry. Foxfire hated when she was called by her last name, especially because her last name was more like a first name and her first name was more like a last. It caused a lot of people to make fun of her as a child, to say the least. People always made fun of others quirks and insecurities.

"You want to elaborate more on that, Parkinson?" Foxfire grew irritated, crossing her arms over her chest and popping her hip to the side.

"I mean, for starters we all know you lost your virginity to Theo here. And then you wound up losing him too." Pansy pouted, mocking Foxfire's previous pain.

"Pansy-" Theo began to stop her, but Foxfire spoke up in self defense.

"Aw, good one, Parkinson. That really hurt my heart." Foxfire rolled her eyes in annoyance, while placing her hand over her heart. Pansy smirked. "I mean, really, where do you get off on making others feel bad about themselves? Does it make you feel good because deep down you're just an insecure little girl? It explains a lot why you have no friends besides guys, because they clearly have different intentions for the use of you. Because trust me, it's not friendship they are after." Foxfire pouted back, with a smirk. I told you, this girl had a mouth on her. She just tried to contain it for the most part.

"What'd you just say?" Pansy stepped forward but before she could go any further, a hand reached out in front of Foxfire's view, and she looked down to see the missing sopophorus bean that had rolled away. Attached to that hand was Draco.

"Here." He said quietly. His voice sounded sad. And it was clear he wanted the girls to stop bickering. Foxfire reached forward, retrieving the bean, while also lightly brushing her finger tips against the palm of his hand.

"Thanks." She smiled faintly. He nodded, and then returned to making his potion. Pansy rolled her eyes once more, muttering something under her breath while Foxfire walked back to her table, smirking over at Kat.

As the students gathered around to watch as Harry received the liquid luck potion, Foxfire couldn't help but notice Theo staring over at her. Kat noticed it as well, and quickly widened her eyes at him, basically telling him to back off. His eyes quickly darted away and Kat smirked, feeling as Foxfire leaned her head on her shoulder. Foxfire's eyes gazed over to Draco and she couldn't help but think of the smell she had recognized.
