After waking up and getting ready, Tennis Ball headed over to the elevator to meet up with Golf Ball, Basketball, and 8-Ball for breakfast before the fifth contest. He pressed the lobby button and descended to that floor. Golf Ball, like always, was already there, but Basketball and 8-Ball were nowhere to be seen.

"Hey, TB!" Golf Ball called out, "I got us all some hot chocolate! Want some?"

"Thanks, GB." Tennis Ball replied as she handed the drink to him.

"Hey, that's new." Golf Ball said, pointing to a bulletin board near their usual spot. It had many flyers all over it, some which read:

Thanks in advance.

"Wow, those are some interesting messages." Golf Ball proclaimed. "But I know for sure that I'm going to respond to the last one." She pulled out her phone and was about to search up "Apex101OC wattpad" when 8-Ball and Basketball came over.

"Hey, did you guys get the message about the Sport Reunion?" Basketball asked.

Golf Ball groaned. "Yeah, I did. And my mom still wants me to go!"

"Go? But I thought she valued your education, and we're at a boarding school." Basketball said.

"Well, it's the only thing she values more than success. Even more than her children." Golf Ball said bitterly, "And I'm not going in person. I'm going via Boom, the leader in modern enterprise video communications, with an easy, reliable cloud platform for video and audio conferencing, chat, and webinars-"

"Seriously?! I mean, it's so boring!" Basketball complained. "I wish the Sport Reunion would go burn or something!!!!"

"Exactly!" Golf Ball answered and they started angrily complaining about the Sport Reunion.

"Too bad it's on Saturday and not today, then I could give her an excuse that the principal wouldn't let me go because of class."

"So, speaking of class, did you tell her that we aren't learning anything educational here?" 8-Ball asked.

"Pff, of course not!" Golf Ball said, "She'd be so annoying!"

"Makes sense since-" 8-Ball was cut off when this girl tackled him with a hug.

"What the-" he yelped.

The girl had two pigtails and a hoodie.

"Uh, what's happening?!" he said as the girl kept hugging him.

Maybe it was Tennis Ball's imagination, but did he see jealousy in Basketball's eyes?

"What's your name?" The girl asked 8-Ball, light shining in her eyes.

"Uh, 8-Ball."

"Awesome! I'm Eight!" she said, pointing to the number eight on her shorts. She then pointed at the eight on 8-Ball's shirt. "Don't we sort of match?"

"Uh, haha, I guess." 8-Ball said, looking uncomfortable at the close contact with a complete stranger.

"Who are you?" Basketball interrupted, annoyed.

"I'm Eight, I already said that!" Eight answered.

"No, I mean, who are you, as in what are you at the academy. Are you another student?" Basketball asked.

"No, I'm just visiting. My bro said I could come!"

"Who's your brother?"

Eight looked surprised. "Four, of course!"

"She's a Number, Basketball." Tennis Ball informed her, "Didn't you read the history book for last year? She's immortal."

"That's right!" Eight said cheerfully, "See you guys later!" she untangled herself from 8-Ball and ran off.

Basketball scratched her head. "Weird girl." she muttered.

The four of them finished up their breakfast and headed off to class.
