"That was Cass," I said.

"What do you think?" Dean asked.

"It's above my pay grade, man," Sam shrugged.

Dean glanced over at me, but I remained quiet.

"Well, at least now we know why the demons want you so bad," Dean addressed Anna. "They get a hold of you, they can hear everything the other side's cooking. You're 1-900-Angel."

"Hey, um, do you know- are my parents okay? I- I didn't go home," Anna asked. "I was afraid."

We all exchanged a look, none of us wanting to break the news, but were saved from saying anything as Ruby rushed into the room.

"You got the girl. Good, let's go," she said.

"Her face!" Anna cried, stepping back.

"It's okay. She's here to help," Sam assured her.

"Yeah, don't be so sure," Dean muttered.

"We have to hurry," Ruby informed us.

"Why?" Dean demanded.

"Because a demon's coming- big timer. We can fight later, Dean."

"Well, that's pretty convenient- showing up right when we find the girl with some bigwig on your tail."

"I didn't bring him here. You did."

"What?" I asked.

"He followed you from the girl's house," Ruby explained. "We got to go now."

"Dean, Ellie."

We turned as Sam pointed at a statue of Mary that was bleeding from its eyes.

"It's too late. He's here," Ruby breathed.

I hurried over, grabbing Anna's arm and guiding her over to hide her in a closet.

"Okay. Stay in there. Don't move," I instructed.

"Okay," Anna nodded.

Sam was pulling out a flask of holy water and Ruby shook her head.

"No, Sam, you got to pull him right away."

"Whoa, hold on a sec," Dean protested.

"Now's not the time to bellyache about Sam going dark side," Ruby growled. "He does his thing, he exorcises that demon, or we die."

I swallowed hard as Sam put the flask away again. The door to the attic opened with a bang as a tall, skinny man with brown hair and a trimmed beard came in. Sam held up his hand, attempting to exorcise him, but nothing happened.

"That tickles," the demon smirked, his voice nasally. "You don't have the juice to take me on, Sam."

He flung Sam downstairs like a rag doll. I took a step forward, intending to use my own powers, but the demon held up a hand, freezing me in place. Dean attacked him with Ruby's knife, but the demon won their fight.

"Hello again, Dean," the demon greeted him.

Anna screamed, and I looked over to see Ruby pulling her out of the closet. However, thanks to the other demon, I couldn't move to stop it.

"Come on, Dean. Don't you recognize me? Oh, I forgot- I'm wearing a pediatrician. But we were so close... in Hell."

"Alastair," Dean said and I felt the blood drain from my face.

Sam had come back up, and stabbed Alastair with Ruby's knife, but barely missed his heart, mostly just hitting his shoulder.

"You're gonna have to try a lot harder than that, son," Alastair told him.
