Scene 037

"Greetings. I'm calling to inform you of our change of plans. We've decided to make a stop at the nearest space station. Dam wants to show Amy some of the wonders of space life." Jac informed Beauf from his chair in the Command Center. Unsmiling, he hurried to continue before Beauf could interrupt. "I've sent you a change of our flight plans for you to examine. I or Dam will contact you when we reach the station. Jac, out."

Beauf began to read the report. It was indeed a change in flight plans, but there was also an added message. As he read the report and came to the information about the engine, one of Jac's favorite words slipped free. Finishing the report, he let loose with a growl and a hiss.

"Computer, place a transmission to the Repair Station in the Leymain's sector. I want to talk to the commander of the station." He sat back to wait. His unhappiness was reflected by his pinned ears.

The desk viewer turned on and a Large squarish humanoid appeared in it. He looked as if he had been carved from a piece of mountain. He looked at Beauf and said, "Greetings, this is Commander Hugan of the Leymain's Repair Station. What can I do for you?" The pattern of speech had been very slow and formal.

Knowing that the Leymain race wasn't as slow of wit as most races thought, Beauf smiled. "Greetings, I am Commander Beauf Kalfas. I am calling upon my Ruler's, Dammarow Heir's, request. He will be making a stop at your station, with your permission. He wants to show his future life mate a small sample of space life." He put everything in a tone of request.

The large, mountainous Commander Hugan smiled and said, "It is always a pleasure to do business with the Valdiarians. We are honored that Dammarow Heir and his future mate will be joining us. Please, send us a list of your request and I will do everything that is needed." The big humanoid moved to a formal salute.

"Thank-you," said Beauf and returned the salute. "I will inform the Valdiar Star that you are expecting them." He waited for the Leymain to end the call. A few minutes of respect could hurry the Valdiar Star's repairs quicker than anything else.

One more thing, thought Beauf. "Computer, what is the closest Valdiarian Space Craft to the Leymain's Repair Station?"

"The Warship, Searcher is the closest" said the computer.

"All right, then place a call the Searcher and its captain. I want him to be on the lookout for any untold activity in the area. Also, inform him to keep his eye on the Valdiar Star. I want him to follow her home, but at a distance." Beauf sat back in his chair to wait for a reply.

"The captain of the Searcher acknowledges the orders and is proceeding to the station," reported the computer.

Well, I've done all I can from here. I hope everyone will be all right. Beauf settled in to wait until this next crisis was over.
