Scene 052

Walking into his cabin after his shift, the first thing Turk saw was the small statue Amy had dropped off earlier that afternoon. Stopping dead in his tracks, Turk called out, "Computer, who was in my cabin, today?"

"Amy Heir was here long enough to put her gift on your desk," said the computer.

A red tint came to Turk's face as he picked up the statue and threw it across the room. "She needs to learn to mind her own business."

Turning Turk stormed out of his room, Amy's gift laid shattered on the floor. He stormed to Amy's cabin, pushed the door chimes, and waited for Amy to answer the door. He heard her call out. "I'm coming. I know I'm running late. Come on Lubin." The door opened and out walked Amy.

Walking into someone, Amy looked up. "Oh," she said, staring up into the face of a very angry lizard. She had walked into Turk. Taking a step back, she said, "Sorry."

Changing positions in Amy's arms, Lubin gave a threatening hum.

"You," Turk spit out. "You need to learn to mind your own business. Keep out of my space."

"What?" Amy said startled.

"Mind your own business or you'll regret it," Turk said, taking a threatening step toward Amy and raising his hand.

Letting out a deep growl, Lubin's face appeared, his teeth bared. As Turk leaned toward Amy, Lubin lunged at Turk with another deep growl. The weight of Lubin's attack knocked Turk down, where Lubin landed on his chest with all of his teeth around Turk's neck.

Turk called out in panic, "Get it off. Get it off."

Amy called to Lubin, encouraging him to let go. "Lubin, come on. I am fine, release Turk. He didn't hurt me. Come on Lubin." She soothed.

Jac was coming out of the lift; his shift was over. All he wanted to do was go to bed, when he saw what was happening and ran toward the group. "Lubin let him go. What is going on?" He said.

"Shh...," Amy said, reaching out to pick up Lubin off of Turk. "Everything's fine."

Turk jumped to his feet, stepping away from Amy and Jac, who had stopped by Amy's side. Turk gave Amy a threatening look.

Lubin growled at Turk all of his hair bristling.

"Is everyone all right?" asked Jac. He put his hand on Amy's shoulder.

"I'm fine," said Amy. "I think Turk is slightly imbalanced. I was leaving to join Dam for my exercises when Turk jumped me and started yelling at me about minding my own business. Lubin, then jumped at Turk when he felt Turk had crossed the bounds."

Squeezing Amy's shoulder but looking at Turk, Jac said, "Go on down to Dam. I'll talk to Turk."

"Are you sure?" She questioned.

"Yes, go on, and take Lubin with you," Jac said, giving Lubin a pat on the head and pushing Amy toward the lift.

Jac and Turk stood facing each other until Amy entered the lift. "Well?" Jac asked.

"When did THAT thing come on board?" Turk countered defensively.

"Earlier this morning, but that's not the issue. Why did you threaten Amy?" growled Jac.

"Get rid of it or I will," Turk said.

"I think you need to go to your cabin and cool off. That is an order," commanded Jac.

Anger filled Turk, his face flushing red. He took a step toward Jac.

Jac pulled his handheld laser free and pointed it at Turk.

Turk stepped back and stomped off to his cabin.

The problem with Turk may come to ahead before we are ready for it to, thought Jac as he watched Turk's cabin door close.
