Scene 067

"Good morning," said Amy as she awoke. "Did you enjoy your sleep?"

Lubin gave a large humming purr. With a stretch, he jumped out of the relaxing chair, and went to the table. Climbing to his place at the table, he made an inquiring sound.

"Hungry are you? So am I," Amy said with a smile. "Let me get our breakfast and then we'll find Dam and see what he wants to do today."

Bring back breakfast and sitting it on the table. She called, "Cat, how long have we been under way?"

"We have been under way for around three hours," came Cat's reply. "How did you know we had left the station? Your window is still shielded."

Amy sat for a few moments thinking. "The engine's rhythmic energy is different when it is being used and when it is resting." Shaking her head, she continued, "I don't know if I am making sense to you or not. Oh, by the way good morning."

"A good morning to you, Lubin. Your answer makes perfect sense to me," replied Cat.

"Have you talked to Dam today? Do you know what his plans are?" Amy asked as she cleaned up the breakfast dishes and put Lubin down upon the floor. He rolled over and jumped on the couch.

"No, I have not talked to Dam yet, nor do I know of any special plans," answered Cat. "Do you want me to ask for you?"

"Not really and I know you are busy with other things. Could you put more information about Valdiar on the console for me after I get out of the shower?" Came Amy stepping into the hygiene room.

"It will be ready whenever you are," came Cat. She left Amy's quarters.

Amy came to in the dream cabin. "Are you here?" she called. Looking around the room she noticed, she was alone. "OK, I'll sit here and wait for you."

As she sat for a half hour waiting for Dam to show up, Amy looked around the room. She thought. Did I do something to upset him today?

A few minutes later Dam came in the room. "Oh, you're already here. I tried to get here on time but I got caught up in something else," said Dam.

"I was just beginning to wonder if I had done something to upset you today. I know we never got to my exercises. I did do my stretches, though," she rushed.

Dam went to Amy and pulled her into his arms. "No, you didn't do anything wrong. I just had to go over some important information," he said as he kissed the top of her head.

"OK," said Amy. She settled into Dam's arms. "Let's go and lay in front of the fire." As Amy and Dam settled into the cushions, Amy felt a friction of warmth build where her body touched Dam's.

Dam reached down, lifted Amy's head out of his shoulder, and began to kiss her. Amy felt her whole body turn into one huge warm spot.

Sighing and breaking away, Amy said, "That was very nice."

Giving a small laugh, Dam replied, "Nice. I'll have to see if I can do better." With a smile Dam began to kiss Amy again. He started at side of her mouth, then moved to complete the kiss. Amy reached up, wrapping her arms around his neck trying to deepen the kiss even more.

Breaking off, Dam asked, "Was that better than 'very nice'?"

Resting her forehead on his chest, Amy breathlessly replied, "The best." She snuggled back into Dam's arms.

"Let's see if with continued practice we can get even better," said Dam. That was the last word spoken during the night in the cabin.
