Scene 066

Later that night Cat and Lubin were talking to each other. "So you think we've pushed Amy too hard?" inquired Lubin.

"Yes, I think you, both, have. Neither of you stopped to find out what she knows," Cat said gravely.

"What would you have done differently?" asked Lubin.

"I do not know, but I really would have taken the procedure a lot slower," came Cat.

"It has been a while for you. You have forgotten what the mating fever is like. I mean, I may not be able to feel it but I have seen it enough in most races to know Dam would have tried to push as fast as he could," Lubin growled, his normal musical purring voice, grating.

"I remember quite well what the Mating Fever is like," Cat grated. "I just think. You all have pushed a little too hard."

"Again, I'll ask, what would you have done differently?"

"I do not know, but I feel as if Dam is finally on the right track by testing Amy to find out what she knows, then taking her training on from there," Cat said soothingly.

"What test?" inquired Lubin.

"Santi dug up the test we give all our cubs to figure out their mental potential," said Cat. "Dam is going over it as we speak. He will play it with Amy tomorrow."

"What do you mean play with it?" questioned Lubin.

"We give this test to our cubs like a game. With the pressure off it makes it easier to gage their true potential," explained Cat. "Some cubs get nervous when you say test."

"We'll see. Now to a different subject, it surprised me the conflict with Turk resolved so easily," said Lubin.

"I know. I expected more turbulence from those quarters. If you know what I mean?" concurred Cat.

"We now know why I felt the need to take a bite out of Turk. He was a Zoidiarian." Lubin growled.

"Next time you feel the need to take a bite out of someone I say go ahead and do it." Cat laughed.

Growling Lubin jumped out of Cat's circuits.
