Jae sighed as she walked into the dorms late in the evening. The girl had had a very long day that consisted of an early morning solo photoshoot followed by hours of writing, composing, producing, singing, and redoing it all again. She was dead tired but more importantly, she had missed the presence of her favorite people.

She had expected at least one of the boys to show up and greet her as she stepped into the entrance but there was no sign of any of them. She played with the sweater paws that her oversized crewneck gave her as she stepped out of her shoes and walked further into the massive living space.

She supposed it was fair that no one was up and about considering how late it was. Most of the boys would've probably retired to their rooms by now if they weren't working. Jae walked towards her shared room with Jungkook, opening the door only to hear Jungkook's frantic yelling as he played a video game with some other idol friends.

"Guys come on! You're meant to actually kill the enemy and not just mess around! I can't believe I have to do everything myself!"

Jungkook hadn't even noticed Jae as she walked into the room. She watched him play for a few minutes before dropping her bag off in a corner and moving to sit next to the boy. Jungkook barely spared her a fleeting glance before focusing on the game once more. He wasn't even surprised to see her there.

No hello, no hug, not even a quick smile. Jae sighed yet again before grabbing a pair of sweats and a large shirt and heading to the bathroom to shower.

One shower later and Jungkook was still hyper-focused on his game even when Jae sat down next to him again, purposefully brushing her shoulder against his in a feeble attempt to grab the boy's attention for at least a quick second. Sadly, there was no response from him so Jae got up, not wanting to be a bother anymore, and fell into bed, closing her eyes and curling up to try and get some sleep.

Fifteen minutes later and Jungkook's periodic yelling was keeping Jae awake regardless of how tired she was. Additionally, she was so used to having him there while she slept that she struggling to replicate the warmth and comfort that Jungkook usually provided. Jae got up and poked Jungkook in the shoulder.

"Kook? Can you please just be a little quieter?"

Jungkook barely moved, ignoring the girl and her request.

"Jungkook?"

"You idiot! Move out of your position, you're gonna get caught like a sitting duck and we'll lose!"

Jae frowned as he continued to yell into his headset. She moved to stand in front of the screen and Jungkook finally looked at her with an angry glare.

"You're in the way! Move!" he yelled.

"I just wanted to ask you to be a little quieter, I'm trying to sleep."

"Get out of the way, I'm gonna lose!"

"I will, can you just please be-" Jae was cut off as Jungkook's eyes widened at something his friends said.

"What? We lost?"

Jungkook turned his face to look at Jae once again, rage burning in his eyes. "Look what you did! My team lost because of you!" he said, stalking closer to her and yelling the last bit in Jae's face. "All because you didn't want to move!" He shoved Jae's shoulder back hard, causing her to trip and stumble backwards from the unexpected move. Her shoulder rammed against the bedroom's wall, sending a shock of pain through her entire arm and upper back. She whimpered but didn't spare Jungkook another glance before she walked straight out of the room and to the living room, curling up on one of the two massive beanbags that sat in the darkness.

It was about an hour later when Jungkook had finally calmed down and realized what he had done. He hurriedly put away his controller and headset, turning the game off and rushing out to the living room to find Jae curled up in a fetal position trying to stay warm while Jimin came in with a large spare blanket from the storage closet and Hoseok kneeled next to her, moving her hair out of her face and patting her back reassuringly.

Jungkook stepped forward and held a hand up to stop Jimin's actions as he bent and lifted Jae into his arms slowly. He turned around and made his way back to their room, murmuring apologies to the half-asleep girl. He set her down in bed and watched as one of her hands reached out as though searching for him and his heart shattered into a million pieces, each piece melting as he mentally fawned over the cute action.

Jae's eyes opened when she couldn't find what her hand had reached for and Jungkook wasted no time getting into his side of the bed and grabbing her by the waist to pull her closer to his own body.

"Jungkook?" Jae's soft, sleepy voice carried up to his ears.

He simply hummed in acknowledgement. Jae didn't hesitate to wrap her arms around him, succumbing to the heavenly comfort that Jungkook's large, strong frame provided. His smell alone was enough to lull her back to sleep.

The next morning, the two youngest members lay in bed as sunlight creeped through the slight openings of the blinds. Jungkook woke up first, the events of last night flashing through his mind as he winced at the memory of his own words and actions. The moment Jae stirred awake Jungkook was apologizing profusely.

"I'm so sorry, I was pre-occupied and I was rude and mean and I pushed you," he said hurriedly.

Jae was never mad in the first place so she accepted the apology quickly with a simple hug, burying her face in Jungkook's shirt and mumbling, "It's ok. We all have those moments. As long as we stick by each other through these silly things and the bigger things, we'll be fine."

Jungkook smiled, happy that Jae was quick to forgive him and rekindle their strong bond. "I'll make sure to never be too pre-occupied for you Jae."

"I think I'll hold you to that," came the reply.

Jungkook merely smiled and hugged the girl tighter.
