Raven wiped his face and went back to staring at the ground. He waved at a boy, a dominant boy, but still, it was ridiculous. He simply waved at Josh, and it was like the world was ending. Sinking down, he rested his head against the back of the bench. The sub shifted in his seat as he hugged his arms around his chest. Raven should have grabbed a thicker jacket. It was still pretty cold out. Not all of the snow drifts had melted yet.

Footsteps sounded against the sidewalk. Raven's eyes flicked to the side. He turned away from his brother. Why was he here? Daven was the one who told on him.

"Hey." Daven shoved his hands in his pockets and stood in front of his twin.

"Jesse's inside."

Daven took in a deep breath as he sat down. "I'm not here to talk to Jesse."

Raven started at a nearby tree, doing his best to ignore his brother. Daven was part of the problem. Along with their father, he was so uptight about this no boy thing.

"Mom called."

"Hmm...."

"It seems you told Dad that you hate him."

The sub didn't respond.

Daven stretched out and sucked in his cheek. "Straight for the throat."

Raven glanced at his brother. "I'm not too fond of you right now either."

The dominant smiled and clicked his tongue. "I bet." He leaned forward and rubbed his hands together. "I'm sorry about how I acted earlier. I took it too far, but you gotta cut me a break, Rav." He peered over his shoulder at the sub. "My whole life I've been told to protect you. That's my responsibility as your older brother, to fight when you can't."

Picking at his fingernails, Raven sucked in his lips.

"You've always been different. Not in a bad way, you're just Raven, my little brother." He shrugged. "But not everyone sees it that way. Dad told me ever since we were pups that a dominant protect the pack, but more importantly his family. When people teased you, or say things just to hurt you, it pisses me off. I've just got it in my head that I have to hurt them before they can hurt you. I know that's the wrong way of looking at it, but I can't help it." He laughed to himself. "Maybe it's the future alpha coming out in me."

Letting out a sigh, Raven leaned against his brother's side. "Thank you."

Daven turned to him, appearing rather confused.

"I've never thanked you for protecting me. Growing up whenever someone would make fun of me, you were always right there. But I'm not going to break, Daven. I wanted to be able to have a choice sometimes. I feel like this whole no boys thing is because you and dad don't trust me."

Sitting up, Daven took off his coat. "Here."

Raven took it. "You'll be cold."

He threw his hands in up and scanned his body. "I have a bit more installation than you."

Raven smiled and put the coat on. "Thanks." Turning to his brother, he ran his hands down his hair. "I know you just want to keep me safe, but could you try to let me how a little more freedom?"

Daven groaned and laid his head back. "What are we talking about?"

"If a dominant waves at me, you don't try to punch their face in."

Laughing, Daven shot his brother a grin. "No promises."

Raven rolled his eyes. "I just want to have a small social life. I'm not going to get a boyfriend. But it's not like I'm asexual either."
