Lying across the floor of the crystal room, Cyrus clutched his phone in his hand. Why wouldn't Liam just hurry up and reply to him? He checked the time. It had been nearly an hour since Cyrus messaged the sub. Letting out a deep breath, he turned onto his side. His tail thumped the ground as the seconds past by.

There was a knock on the door before a golden werewolf poked his head into the room. "Cyrus?"

The dominant didn't move as his dad entered and came over to kneel beside him.

"You shifted." River pushed back his son's head fur.

"It helps me calm down."

"I know." River forced a smile. "I can talk to your father. I let him know about your feelings for Liam."

"He won't believe you," muttered Cyrus. "Father knows you'll do anything to make me happy. He'll think I made it all up just to get him and Trevor to agree."

"That's not true." River gripped his knees. "I know Liam is important to you."

Cyrus let out a shaky breath. "I nearly lost it when I heard him crying. God." He hid his face. "What's wrong with me? We're not even together and I'm acting like this."

"Do you love him?"

The boy peered up at his dad. "I think so."

River grinned and hugged his son. "He's from Arbor Heights. It's a long drive but if you leave now, you should be able to get there by morning."

"Dad?" Cyrus sat up. "You do realize what you are saying? You're going against the alpha and your mate."

The sub nodded. "You're right. I'll do anything to make you happy and if Liam is the one who will make you happy, then I want you two to be together." He stood and stepped into the hall. Returning, he put a bag on the floor. River took out a set of keys from the side pocket. "There's a service truck in the shed a mile or so from the mansion. If anyone asks, I'll tell them you went to the school to start setting up your room."

Jumping to his feet, Cyrus yanked his dad to him and hugged the sub tight enough to draw a yelp from River. "Thank you."

River bowed his head. "I know what it's like to think you're not wanted." He clasped his son's cheek. "I think you're the perfect man for Liam. Hopefully, one day he'll be able to see that too."

The two embraced once more before Cyrus shifted and hurried to put on his clothes. He took the keys from his dad who stood at the door and grabbed the bag.

"Drive safe," said River.

"As soon as I find Liam, I'll come right back."

"Yeah." River wiped his eyes.

"Dad, don't cry." He hugged the golden werewolf.

"I want you to be happy but I'm scared. Trevor will be so mad." River took in a deep breath. "I'll say I did it."

Cyrus shook his head. "You didn't do it. You gave me a choice. I'm making it." He clutched the keys in his hand. "I'll be safe. Bye."

River waved and stood in the doorway. Cyrus could tell his dad was worried but this was something they both knew the young werewolf had to do.

Raven looked at the pile of boxes and bins that were stacked in his bedroom. Maybe he had packed a little too much. Then again, he wouldn't have a school uniform, anymore. He'd have to have a new outfit for every day. He glanced at his dresser where his winter clothes were kept. Should he take those to? Midfield University was a few hours from the academy. From what Raven remember, it sometimes, on occasion, was kind of cold this time of year. Grabbed a half-full bin, he dragged it over.
